  1. [OOT question already answered in PM where it actually belonged]
  2. I've been for a long time a proud member of the Resistance.
  3. Same for me. I'm not a huge fan of the lady's grin.
  4. You know, I went on for DECADES thinking that the monster on the RQ2 cover was a Slarge. I was probably influenced by the Griffin Island cover. I should have thought that Slarges don't live in Dragon Pass... By the way, the authors of RQ6 seem to have had the same misconception when they name "slargr" the creature in their tribute cover: "Anathaym didn't hear the slargr - a massive, old male - until it was upon her." But now, let Slarges remain in far away Pamaltela. I'm happy to swear by the new and improved rock lizard. Rock lizards rock.
  5. Congrats Jason! I really look forward to the new RQ line! And yes, the Slaves of Fate adventure is a little known gem of a scenario.
  6. Received my Revolution d100 copy and combat cards in the mail yesterday. It all looks great. It's great to see how compact and packed with content the book is. Just 256 pages and you even have the starting scenario. Very nice to see this in an age of bloated* RPG books. The cards are great. *Whoever is thinking of the pretty but ponderous 7th edition of a famous horror rpg featuring several pages of car chase rules and a crippled chargen is too naughty and does not have my approval.
  7. Today I ran SB4 for the kids. It worked very well for a very narrative session. We weren't playing it "old school" - just playing and running with the story. Sometimes I think new editions and rulesets may be cool but are really not needed. A barebones BRP engine and there you go.
  8. I think a Stormbringer 5.5 should be based on Magic World brought back to its Elric roots. Ruleswise MW is a tweaking and improvement of the Elric!/SB5 engine. Minus the setting. Add back the setting and SB 5.5 is done. The only thing that would require further tweaking is magic. For that I'd port aspects of Mongoose Elric.
  9. Ok, she's a readhead. Or at least her Corinthian helmet's plume is red. Now, to the more pressing question. Is she battling a Slarge?
  10. Actually, the big BRP family tree is a dead project. I've lost the original file in a hard drive crash. And I discovered too many other old and new variants in the meantime! Cheers, Smiorgan
  11. Wow! That's a great piece of artwork. It's so...RuneQuest!
  12. And the RQ6-Elric forum game is still going strong on Google groups, with the heroes paying a visit to the Vanishing Tower and Voilodion Ghagnasdiak! LOL. For me this forum is sufficient to discuss Revolution d100.
  13. Brilliant essay on modern fantasy literature.
  14. No, I think it is more likely that there are only 24 hours in a day and Chaosium just has to choose what to prioritize. They have a lot of Cthulhu to put out and the new RQ, which is a really big project and will take more than anticipated (second half 2017?). Before that it would be very unwise of Chaosium to propose a project to Mr. Moorcock, exposing themselves to financial and reputational risks. Sure, I'd love to hear about a new edition of Stormbringer, but... one thing is to take steps to normalize a strained relationship - which apparently the new Chaosium did promptly - another thing is to start a new license agreement.
  15. I guess you were not impressed by the editing of these two...
  16. Very good idea! The multi-generation character backstory is great, but it's good to accommodate different play styles. Sometimes one wants to whip-up a character quickly and go straight to exploring the Big Rubble.
  17. Looks good! Very nice layout and art. Boxes full of options and advice.
  18. Good. I did not know they talked about it at Essen.
  19. In fact, I was talking about what was innovative THEN. Runequest, Call of Cthulhu, Stormbringer and Pendragon were all very innovative games with simple interesting mechanics tied to their settings. Consider, for instance, cults (RQ), sanity (CoC), demon summoning and elan (Stormbringer) or passions and personality traits (Pendragon). Are there games that are that innovative today? Some in my view are innovative. Take "The One Ring", for instance, nothing fancy for the sake of it, but solid mechanics that fit the setting and mood of the game.
  20. Let me say something quite heretical for BRP Central. I am a great fan of BRP/d100 systems and I was looking forward also to a slim BRP generic book (BRPE if you want)... BUT ... for the future I care more about seeing a creative and innovative Chaosium rather than about a Chaosium producing a lot of BRP content. I came to love Chaosium and BRP because of the great games of the past RQ, CoC, Stormbringer/ Elric!, Pendragon. These were all great solid games and innovative in many ways in setting and mechanics. BRP variants nicely supported these innovations and thus BRP became my system of choice. I'd love to see that kind of creativity again, be it in BRP based games or completely separate engines.
  21. Fair enough. RQ4 and Mythic Iceland makes 2 standalone BRP games, 3 if you count CoC7's variant BRP system. Me too. But that was at a VERY early moment. Many plans have changed since then. Not sure this is still on the cards.
  22. Sounds like a very wise strategy! Quite the opposite of what happened with the BGB, or, to some extent, with RQ3.
