  1. That is how I feel about DTP products. The ones that came out just slightly after the cut and paste methods demoed by Rick and MOB above! I am sure the same axiom would apply to both.styles however: know the older way even if you know the modern, The benefits are immense!
  2. Were you meaning a pre-Mac Apple Computer. Man, you might will have been using word star and that was not fun at all!
  3. sir, did I hear a sir? my PR department is working overtime, I will have to give them a raise but if I do they might suggest a shave and a suit next... gadzooks! Just as stated, now either the problem righted itself or the clock has reset. and I have a new limit. Knowing me, I will have at lest 5 PMs before 24 hours passes and if I see the message again the screen shots are yours, my good sir g33k! Cheers
  4. Oh master of beetles and noble muncher of said beetles, @Trifletraxor, I got an odd message earlier, today, Can’t recall the exact wording but something to the effect of having a limit of 5 PMs, Is this true or symptomatic of other odd behaviour on BRP Central of late. Sorry to bring up bad news but I am curious.
  5. I hear you, and I am really hoping (and Joerg especially for that matter) that some of our erudite will take advantage of Glorantha Has Talent? contest to record a few short myths to help new players and to act as play aids. Joerg has given an example of a recorded myth in Episode 6 of Wind Words.
  6. The first time I did cut and paste I thought the Mac I was using was just the bee’s knees, daddio! But that is just ancient!
  7. Welcome to Episode OO7 of Wind Words "Grandpapa, tell me ‘bout tha wildings ‘gain… tellmetellmetellmeeEEEEEE" (the last syllable rose to an utterly impossibly loud and piercing wail). "Not sugar today, dear? Are you sure? You always ask about sugar?" She opined, “like sugah”… much more quietly and reflectively then before. Too late did his gambit for silence begin, the chant had now been picked up by her brothers and her older cousin, a chant of "tell me, tell me, tell me”, in glorious multiple part “disharmony”. Her older sister picked up a pot and a ladle and led a little parade around the large Earth-shaped room, comprising all of the children, while beating a cadence to keep pace. Well, it was an "Orlanthi All" as the baby—who’s eyes were wide as saucers—took in the chaos from his bed of pillows and kittens, and lay silent for the first time in hours. Mom stood in the doorway, unseen by all; a war being waged twixt a smirk and a scowl (the scowl was losing) on her careworn face. "Wildings, again Dad"? “Aye, what else, she’s even near forgot about s...u...g...a...h...”, he signed, using the Issaries Runes. “Then, if we are to have peace and sleep and not have all the household spirits scared away, be about it quick now!”… “Aye my Chieftain, Prince of my heart. Thane of my household, aye, I shall be about it immediately!“ “NOW CHILDREN”, he boomed, “it is time to tell you about Hara Dinorthsdottir and King Dinorth..." “NO. THE WILDLINGS!” the children chorused. “Ith ith about The Wildlingth” the older sister asserted, drawing herself up trying to look much more “initiated” than she was (she was still three years away from her day), which was hard to do, what with her lisp due to a missing pair of front teeth, and her valiant attempts to hide a rather large ladle behind her back all while rocking back and forth on the pot on which she stood, to make her even taller… “Now Hara (obviously the king's favourite child)”, continued the old man, restarting the tale again, “had the Blue Jay clan tula memorized by the age of 5 and she and her closest friends…” started Grandpa… “DID THEY HAVE SUGA…” “THE WILDLINGS” “SILENCE” "BANGBANGBANGBANG” “TELL ME ‘BOUT SPYS AND BOOTIFUL PRINCES” ”AN COOL WEAPONS” Mom took one last look in disbelief, shook her head, then turned and left the disorder behind, making her way down the flower-lined path to the Women’s’ Lodge. She stopped to pull a few weeds by the path’s side, swerved to avoid the loudly peeping goslings that aimed themselves arrow-like straight at her, with hopes of treats filling their one-thought minds. Finally resting at the portal to the Lodge, chuckling and sweeping an errant strand of hair from her brow, she idly wondered if she had any willow bark left… Thanks for listening to the rantings of an ol' grognard blowhard. Now, to learn more about the authors and creators of the king’s daughter, The Wildlings, and the Valley of Plenty listen to Wind Words: Episode 007 where we interview the wonderful Carpenters of Troupe Games fame and chat about much, much more! May I suggest a trip to windwords.fm to listen or subscribe to our podcast, find out about our contest, Glorantha Has Talent? read or subscribe to Wind Whispers or if you have already subscribed, simply lay back in your bed of pillows and kittens and the podcast will come to you. It’s magic, innit? If you write your own stories, or filk songs or what have you… why don’t you record an audio file of your 3 minute gems and then take a trip to Glorantha Has Talent? on BRP central or windwords.fm/blog to see our rules, our guides and how to enter your Magnum Opuses into a contest to win great honour, prestige, prizes and maybe even the Hammer of the Gods! Cheers!
  8. No there is a difference between killing and murder. Murder is killing in secret.
  9. There's still a difference between murder and killing in all the Gloranthas right? Murder is done in secret and is very deserving of excile. Killing is done by an honest individual which is why a weregild can save an individual from outlawry, which is the fitting reward for murder.
  10. From a conversation in a PM of the Judges and Hosts Nick, you are our expert in filking*. I had a bit of a conversation with an individual in PM that really should be taking place in public. He asked if he could sample the music to a song and I said no due to copyright so he's wondering if he can not use copyright material for the beats why he can use a parody or filk of the song. Do you have an easy way to explain this that we can use to do this nicely. We might end up getting a few more entries if this was cleared up. So, most importantly we must not break copyright law. If you will be monetizing your recordings see the rules above, where we acknowledge all existing copyright and we (Wind Words) are not monetizing this contest. My thought is that as long as there are substantial changes to lyrics to reflect Glorantha and the intent is obvious to be filking the song with no use of original performances we are okay. So @Nick Brooke, do you wish to post that great answer of yours or should I just cut and paste it into a post or just summarize it? Your choice. Bear with us question asker and we will have a lovely answer for you soon Oh, and all contestants, you have 18 days to get us your entry.. “ He did question my sanity when I called him an expert and wondered what I was talking about....Many others have done so long before that!
  11. Hmm, The Valley of Plenty and Six Seasons in Sartar many have clues for solving this thorny problem. They are meant for playing adolescents through young adults and though neither works specifically for this particular circumstance mentioned above by the OP and the former is QuestWorlds not RQ but they are solidly set in Glorantha by old hands at game design. @Shawn Carpenter and @Minion1stClass are denizens her and I wonder if they have any thoughts to share with our OP. Wind Words just interviewed them for Episode 007 and they had some good thoughts on lethality in gaming. Should be coming out in days so look for it at windwords.fm and see what they have to say and then look for both jonstown compendium products at drivethrurpg.com. Yours in lowering lethality Cheers
  12. I know, one almost feels like one's head is about to explode. Hey, does this mean we're heroes?
  13. All right citizens of Metropolis, I have a request for the cognizanti. I love comics odd boy Grant Morrison and thought I would give what is described (All Star Superman) as both the oddest and closest comic written to the real supes a read! Yep, that sounds like Grant! So, no spoilers, but what is the difference twixt the original 2005ish release and the newer black label? Thanks all!
  14. Would the Royal SPCA object to lighting them up before sending 'em over the walls?
  15. I appreciate you r sympathy for the missile, after all, they are cute, but that is the purpose of the target. Yes, indeed! And flight well broken by those terrific volunteers from the opposing army, our hero easily and gracefully rights his armoured war cow and rides to victory and beyond!
  16. Well, I do hope we get to work together at some time. Give me a yell. Cheers
  17. And let us not forget the marriage of trebuchet and cow used with deadly effect by french invaders against King Arthur as was shown in documentary, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
  18. Sorry man, I truly wanted to edit that. I had no idea how much time the podcast was going to suck out of my life. Hope you will forgive me for bailing but this is really the first month above ground since May and I was sick most of that month. Oh well, no excuses or whining. The podcast is off the ground and you have a finished product! Congrats! The MS I saw back then was incredible. I am sure this will be even better, folks!
  19. Yes @Joerg be proud that was a good broadside of an OP! Good topic!
  20. Have not read the sorcery rules yet, still making sure I have all the other rules figured, kind of like when I was playing RQ 2 and 3... Easy first and then into the weeds.. Thanks for the assist Jeff!
  21. Why does an Orlanthi have to be an intimate of Orlanth, I am of the opinion a good Orlanthicould easily be in the laity, Also could not a Kolating shaman be a good Orlanthi? Still not in agreement. NOW RAW just reread pages 300-302 in the RQ RiG as well as page 76 and 77 and oddly enough I am not seeing any restrictions...Bizarre, I was going to say I not see restriction for initiates beyond the norm but really I can see any at all (beyond the norm). Can you give a citation for this, please. Oh my! Does your Glorantha vary. Cheers
  22. Oh, but you have a wonderful and clever mind and I love how it gets at the guts of Gloranthan issues!
