The reason I started the Topic, What the heck... Check that out! Which I think was totally underutilized, considering! -

Not so weird, someone was thinking previous incarnations of RQ where these are variable. My guess anyway. -
That is incredibly refreshing, thanks Rick!

In the words of Maxwell Smart, "Missed by that much, Chief!"

And now I am sad and happy all at once... Thanks MOB!

Languages spoke in this period?
Bill the barbarian replied to TerryTroll's topic in Pendragon & Prince Valiant
Possibly came with the wave of immigrants brought Conan Meriadoc. I can never tell if you are serious or not but that is cool, love the idea (silly or not). And what is your opinion on the Langue, d’doc, Langue d’oil question. Did they exist at this time and where? Seems a good MGF decision to me. True and the first time I saw the acronym for Edited To Add all over the place I thought I was in a hotbed of Basque nationalists. -
Yes, same here, In the RQ 3 days I had tables and charts and a couple of pages of HRs for figuring it all out (down to cost per hour instead of week) and found I was reasonably happy with the numbers based on the 10.000 hour rule of our world When I first saw RQ RiG I was torn but simplicity trumps complexity when it works and the between adventures section works fine for me. That gives about 9 checks for skills per season or 36 per year. (4 for work 1 for training and about 4 (not my numbers but I will use it for example YMWV) for adventuring ). Should be more than sufficient.

Well. oh great breeder of beetles, so it goes as Kurt Vonnegut was given to say! Thanks anyway and I will remember to use a text editor for my long PMs. Thank you. -
Languages spoke in this period?
Bill the barbarian replied to TerryTroll's topic in Pendragon & Prince Valiant
Yes, Now a quick check, Qizilbashwoman was speaking of langue d’doc from the south of France I believe, I am speaking of Amorica which is the far north of France. Langue d’oil is a is distinct from Langue d'oc, no? Is it the language of Amorica? -
Languages spoke in this period?
Bill the barbarian replied to TerryTroll's topic in Pendragon & Prince Valiant
Let us not forget the native language of Bretagne (Brittany) called Amorica in the day, which I am guessing would be related to the celtic languages across the channel. Wasn’t there a bit of travel and migration across the channel in this period. -
Don’t play in that region but I will admit to a strong curiosity and yen for a peek!

Actually I was not going to post the url so as not to limit your choices but to be helpful here is an URL from DuckDuckGo. This is the second option given... https://www.pensee.com/dunham/pdp.html. Dave gives a summary the rules here and sends folk to a couple of other urls for complete info. Do not know if Enclosre 1 or TotRM are still available but a search should pull up the info... Cheers

You might be referring to Pendragon Pass by David Dunham. Pretty easy to find info for it so I won’t post urls...

Ahh, thanks for the clarification Mind you if I had read a little closer, the clarification would not hav been needed. Cheers

Argan Argar actually, he is the god that trollkin turn to when learning martial skills. Especially the spear. cheers

Well, I read your comment and was going to write it off as being one of a lack of knowledge of the game and leave it at that, but then I thought, hold on, that is totally unfair. How many RPGs allow one to increase most of ones attributes (all but intelligence and size) though training or practice. While those skills rolled might seem mundane you are not bound to them. Even intelligence, while harder to increase, can still be ameliorated in game and there is nothing preventing ones knowledge from increasing (raw Intelligence and size in BRP games are considered to be mostly static and unchanging in game). Remember this is your game, you have paid for it, allow Intelligence to increase through training and practice if this is what you wish. Coming up with rules to do this would be easy enough using the rules to increase the other attributes. Do note, both INT and SIZ can be changed in Chargen and if you and our GM feel the numbers to be too onerous anyway, RAW say, roll another character. It is possible that in my time of not playing the other game, that they now allow the skills to easily change (two seasons or to put it another way, 16 weeks of part time training while plying a trade and possibly adventuring depending on how you read the rules, gives one a chance to increase a skill). Easy peasey! Cheers

Is there an official map of Furthest?
Bill the barbarian replied to pachristian's topic in Glorantha
Happens to the all of us, the best of us give into second and usually better thoughts, take responsibility and make things right. Just like good Orlanthi! Cheers -
This season of joy seems to have more than its fair share of tragedies, wish I had the words... When I feel like that I turn to orchestral music, may I recommend some Beethoven or Bach, either the ninth symphony (especially the Ode to Joy) or the Brandenburg Concertos They seem to help me through dark times. Of course you might have better choices.

And I sure hope in some way that you can feel a little delighted even now! Cheers! Nice!

Coming in Q1 2020: Gateways to Terror for Call of Cthulhu
Bill the barbarian replied to MOB's topic in Call of Cthulhu
I didn’t catch this at the time but that a beautiful cover (and pardon my saying, but what a beautiful woman!). I just caught this at the edge of vision and had to weigh in sooo... It should sell one or two copies... Thanks -
For inspiration might I recommend: This has come up in another thread, and would definitely be worth a watch for ideas here. The Expanse; which I categorize as Sci-Fi Noir. Combat does occur but is brutish, and fast. Otherwise things are akin to a sam spade mystery with our cop falling from clue to another, each revealing more questions than answers. Another series with a noirish investigative style (a bit more combat a bit more stylish) is a Japanese cartoon called Cowboy Bebop which swings at more of a 50’s jazz style than the 40ish blues stylings of The Expanse. Hope these help. Oh music, jazz or blues would not be out of place though atmospheric punk might set the scene as well. Cheers
