  1. It was just a great show, period! And when you consider that the real ruler of the planet (not the face of the ruler, the real power) was an Indian, and she was Kick-ass, wow! Mind blowing!
  2. I just confused Joerg, my work here is done!
  3. Wow.. Roman had space ready technology?! 😮 Alien visited earth before, confirmed! And adapted smoking pot... IN SPACE d()()d!
  4. Ad Salesman selling a concept to a potential customer So would you like a 1000 people dressed in very expensive suits singing your company song while marching through a futuristic battle field.filled with thousands of soldiers all firing lasers and people falling covered in blood, explosions, screaming—when suddenly, dinosaurs fleeing falling asteroids stampede by... whole herds of them, carnivores, herbivores, flying ones... Ad Customer.suspicious and sceptical We can’t do that it would cost a bundle, the extras would have to be paid and fed, the special FX, man that don’t come cheap... The puppets and puppeteers for the dinosaurs...it would cost millions... Ad Salesman Let me introduce you to our Foley Engineer (sound tech specializing in sound effects for radio).you can have him and his effects for $400 a day... Heard a similar sales pitch for radio ads on a radio show about advertising. Loved it! The show was called "Under the Influence” on, of all places, the public commercial free CBC Radio One.
  5. Well, @Rob Darvall, I will say that you have created a fine Topic, Thank you!
  6. It is such an important issue to talk about, I am sure the more the better.... Thanks!
  7. Sounds good to me, I like to explore things outside myself (though I will often hang a character on a familiar hook to make the game easier, but that is me). If playing a rhino and a familiar contributes to MGF I like it, and you can’t tell them “Oh, grow up!” in this case now can you? Now, you always have good comments. Let me turn this around and ask, why you ask. Cheers
  8. No worries, better solutions on the lozenge anyway. Send in the rhinos!
  9. The exact reason I started this Topic, I hesitate to add but in one word “Anthropocene”!
  10. Holy crap MOB talking about putting your money where your mouth (heart) is!! Good On Ya! ETA many apologies for the typo that made this a little hard to understand (just caught it, unfortunately).
  11. and why ever not? we are spending our unborn grandkids inheritance everyday here on the blue marble. sigh
  12. Well I suppose with the right magic... Eurmal are you busy?
  13. In that case please visit this page and weigh in if you wish. Created in honour of our antipodean friends as we call ‘em in Canada.
  14. Same here in Canada. Currently we have a contigent of support and office staff loaning their expertise to the effort in Australia (remember if was only a few years back that we had to evacuate a city of over 100,000 people (men women children and dogs, everyone) before fire destroyed many suburbs there (Fort MacMurray). I went up with John Fogerty on tour the year after the evacuation and while folk were somewhat happy to have that great old rocker bring his magic, I have never seen so many beaten people in my life (they all walked around with slouched shoulders as if they had just been whupped... a year after the fire) . California, the same article I mention from the eighties in SA mentioned the fires in California back then as well. We have truly entered the Burning Times of Aboriginal myth!
  15. White Dwarf had a section o demons in RQ, might it have been there.
  16. As I suggested earlier, it has now been going on for about 40 years but back then I had to turn to Scientific America. for the story. Seriously! The story was the there were fires that would never go out but retreat underground during the rainier and colder seasons to blaze up again as summer heated up. This year the main problems began in about September, but the crisis started in about November.
  17. Now that is interesting and evocative, nice read over breakfast. Thank you.
  18. Oh, my poor aching brain I wish I could say I understand but... even Paid a bod yn dwp has not helped on this one... Alas, the only thing I am understanding is you agree the example is unclear and that you would allow a player to hold back his attack except when tranced... Not your fault, but I can not get it. Thanks for trying...
  19. Great, I was al little nervous that you might have been listening to these pleas. If so, in this case more, is... well more. Glad to hear it. Cheers
  20. I first started hearing about horrifying fires in Australia in the 80s. Every decade it seems to have gotten worse until you arrive at today where naval ships are evacuating folk from the way of harm. I believe there are 10s of thousands of folk (tourist and Australians) on the move right now. I mean the other day when an official was saying don’t move hunker down. It is already too late to flee, to now where there is obviously a window and people re taking advantage of it. Nah, I heard ya, sympathies are probably all many of us can do, short of a trip to the Red Cross to see if they are needing anything or are involved in shipping aid to the troubled areas. Here I am at a loss. ETA The best I could do, I thought was to reach out to my Australian friends and say I care, The fact that some here are hearing stuff they had not heard before is a bonus I had not looked for but that is great, Why can’t gamers learn a bit about the world and reality of their fellow gamers.
  21. Just gave the relevant rules areas a read and, well let’s start with the bad news The rules as written say the skills are brought below 100%, period. After that it get a bit confusing This is the third bulleted point on "Combat with Skills Above 100%" from RQ RiG page 202. The wording says specials and crits go up and down based on mods, so we have to decide if decreasing both skills equally to drop then to 100% or below is just such a modification. The example (not the entire rule) given clearly says no, we know that the 150 must become 100 and thus make the 30% default to the mandatory min of 5%. but note that the special and critical remain as if for 150% (30% and 8%.). So rules as written not dropping your opponents parry would be holding back your blow. If I was a GM and you came to me and after all this explanation you told me you wanted to make it harder to hit (holding back ones full skill, or really allowing your opponent their full skill even though o do not have to) I would allow it... but again you are tying a hand behind your back in this fight. I can see no advantage to it unless out of homer you are giving your foe a chance. Now I hope Paid a bod yn dwp does not mind the interruption but really, of all the people i have seen take this question he is the only one who can make it sensible to me. What say you sir? @Paid a bod yn dwp I would check out the Q and A section at the Well of Dahlia but the last time I was there (this morning) it gave the dreaded 404 error. Thanks for you time Paid a bod yn dwp! ETA Just saw that Paid a bod yn dwp rules the opposite way on the previous page, so what do you say sir, with the above ruling disagreeing with the example given and yourself as well, have you a thought on this. Well of to the well to see if the link has been fixed and to see what it says. Cheers
  22. It might well be non-canonical but I do love me some William Church. the pic is from Dragon Pass A Gazetteer of Kerofinela page 9.
  23. I am so happy it was not just me, I always thought that Hon-eel was the 3rd inspiration of Monsoon, I think it was at least 20 years before I got around that. Thanks for that Martin! cheers
