  1. Read the books then. They're not as bad as you think. You might actually learn what the words "dark fantasy" mean! Elric is not drug addled. Elric's sword kills everyone he ever cares for, not Elric. Melniboneans, Elric's race, have pacts with elementals, beast lords and chaos gods.
  2. Monsters of the Endless Dark is a supplement for the d20 system that details a whole underground ecology of monsters. The artwork varies from tolerable to bad, but the descriptions and ideas are well worth incorporating into a game.
  3. Well, that's dark fantasy for you; though the later books like The Dreamthief's Daughter are not in the same antiheroic vein. But the later edition Stormbringer RPG rules are my favourite dark fantasy rules. And you don't even run BRP yet....
  4. Have you checked out the dark fantasy in Stormbringer fifth edition, also known as Elric! RPG? Its rules form the core of the BGB.
  5. It gives you the option to run the setting at the time of the Mernii, the rise of the Bright empire, or the reign of the empress Terhali. Plus the Dharzi war; and the much later rise of the Young Kingdoms into the reign of both Yyrkoon and Elric. Which is a first for Elric based RPGs. Plus, it gives the option to play many more races such as a Karasim, Pukwadji or Na' ane, as well as the usual YK races. You can even be a wanderer of the time streams. How cool is that?
  6. Pleased to be of service to you Rust.
  7. The Black Seal #3 has an excellent two page spread on the BRP effects of many diseases encountered in the tropics, in a hilarious article, A Road Less Travelled, by Johnathan Turner.
  8. Surely if you want "little set canon to tie one down" you'd be better off running a setting you've written, not a published one?
  9. If you continue to have rapport with glitches don't be surprized when they become self aware and take over the net!
  10. Oh society, sociablenesssssss, you mean that thing whereby I'm able to restock my larder with human brains, by inviting victims...I mean players over to be excerebellized...I mean to play a game of BRP.
  11. I hope so. I'm beginning to feel jaded, and would like nothing more than a setting that knocks my socks off!
  12. Reminds me of this movie, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_City_(1998_film)
  13. At those prices it looks well worth checking out!
  14. " but mostly just to hang around, socialize and relax. Have a beer at the bar! Or maybe a Powsie? Cheers!" Not having played Gloranthan RQ for a long long time I wondered what a Powsie was, and found out that it was a type of drink that could floor a troll, probably a bit like the absinthe and whisky mix that floored me last new years eve!
  15. Lord Shag wrote "When I turned my attention to sci-fi last year it was to traveler that I wanted to do a BRP conversion for." If, in the future you want to run a game there already is a conversion of Traveller to the BRP rules online here http://www.basicrps.com/links/stefan/brp.html . Soltakss also has a conversion to the RQ rules withTraveller spaceship design and combat in it, and lots more, here www.soltakss.com/rq_scifi.doc
  16. I have that supplement, thanks. Converting it to BRP is something I hadn't thought about. I just wanted some easy rules for my last space opera game, and the GURPS rules stood out as easily convertable.
  17. It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that has the most heavy weaponry!;-D

  18. Are you an onion or a certain type of Melnibonean?

  19. Are you going to thank Chaot for his effort or are you an ill mannered wretch?
  20. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. But you could buy it and use the supplement (and your brain) for a specific period of the Punic wars, and maybe later, if you're still running Rome which I doubt with your attitude, run the later eras of the Punic wars.
  21. You might get more of a reply if you join the Classic Fantasy Yahoo group, or does that stink too? http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/brpclassicfantasy/?v=1&t=directory&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=dir&slk=18
  22. Do they still call themselves Mongoose or are they Ferret or Stoatfarer now?
