  1. If he parries with his attack weapon, yes. I haven't checked if it is legit (In RQIII, it was such only with 2 handed weapons), but it is a sure way to rapidly loose his main weapon. This, for sure, but others also are. Kloster

  3. Extension is described as a separate spell. In addition, Jason explained in the Core Rules question thread that extension spells only " makes the spell last longer ", and that Dismiss is not affected by Extension. I think the answer is the same for Dispel Magic. Kloster

  5. Yes, the way it is described makes me think tat the extension itself can be dispelled. I don't think so. Dispel Magic description does not tell that MP used to boost a spell have to be counted, only that the points of the spell (the rune point specifically for divine spells) have to be beaten. Sword Trance is a 1 point Rune spell, so a Dispel Magic 2 removes it completely, even if it is extended to 1 season. This is why I answered that it is not a system breaker: Dispel Magic is one of the most common spell I always have seen in all RQ campaign I've seen. Kloster

IIRC, Rune points for the spell being extended and for extension spell are recovered only when the extension finishes, but you are right (it seems to me) that the Magic points are recovered normally. So, that would means having no or almost no other divine magic (for a starting character at least), but it seems legit. System breaker, I don't think, because of dispel magic and a few other easily obtainable spells. Your unstoppable swordsman would have to fight without his buff, but also without any Rune point available. I personally wouldn't put my character in such a situation. I like long duration enhancement (I am playing sorcerors in RQ since quite a time now), but wouldn't rely on only something so fragile. Kloster

    This is also what I had understood, and that's why I had written: That seems good to me. Those skills can not have a proper experience tick, but at least could be raised between adventures for professional and cult skills. We are on the same line here. My character has been created as a philosopher, but has been hired as a scribe and another player that plays a character similar to the pregen Vishi Dunn (but from Agimori tribe)had to leave his activity as Assistant Shaman because he was not able to serve his tribe (because he is now in Sartar), so he currently works as hunter.     Yes, seen (P416). In that case, it becomes impossible to reach rune level in any lore, nor alchemy (that can't progress by experience, and neither by 'between adventures' experience). It is a blocking point for Rune lord status in at least the following cults: Chalana Arroy (only 4 exp. raisable cult skills, 5 needed at 90%), Lhankor Mhy (only 2 skills). Priest status for Daka Fal and the 2 above mentioned cults is also problematic. Kloster

    The new rules are in line with the new focus on the community life, with all the duties and obligations. This is not anymore the full time adventuring we were accustomed to. Even if I prefer RQIII rules on the matter (if only because of the time to study being relative to the current level), I understand this. Where I have a problem is with the 'non tickable' skills, especially lores. With max 1D6-1 per season on 1 skill when you need to drive 2 or 3 skills to 90% means some runic ranks are impossible to reach in a lifetime. The way I understand the new rules, he would gain 37.5% (on average) in addition to the other gains, because adventuring, learning and other are not full time. What we don't have is a rule for what you describe: somebody that learns full time, whatever the reason. The old RQIII rule could be used for that specific point (and no between adventure skill gain, no or half activity income, ...). Kloster
  13. For human size characters, another way to think it would be to have a formula that moves SIZe (=body mass) when STRength changes to much. I think of 1 SIZ per 3 STR change (plus or minus). At character creation, that would mean adding or removing SIZ if too different from STR. The same could be done for CON (as linked to hit points, not resistance to illness. Kloster

    I completely agree with Atgxtg. If you insist on rolling dices, I would suggest 1 die roll (the worse) for the stealth part and 1 die roll (the worse) for the perception part. In case of success, all the member of the party receives an experience check because the roll has been made below all the scores of the party. This is how we did in our last RQIII campaign. Kloster
