  1. A bit more info/context would imho be useful... Beginning characters? Or more advanced? PC sorts? For which game(s) / edition(s) ? Etc...
  2. Yes, of course! But if that were information Chaosium was willing to share at this point, I expect we'd have heard it from Jeff, when he popped in with his perspective ... 🙂
  3. Once you start animating trees I've got to point to the Banyan. It's a tropical relative of the "ficus" (of houseplant fame), become a gigantic multi-trunked tree. The largest known covers about 20K m^2, almost 5 acres... Now animate THAT.
  4. But it needs a LOT of magic to get the "insta-army" effect. Still, raising an entire generation of decent infantry in just a couple of years instead of 15-20 is a pretty big advantage; and a thousand trees needs a LOT less space & other mundane resources than a thousand humans. They're still "just trees" without animating magic, so a big enough Dispel / etc means you just moved the now-inanimate forest; Birnam Wood has not come to Dunsinane!
  5. I would presume so (in the absence of canonical statements to the contrary; in which case I likely need to consider whether & how much ygmv to add... ;-) .With the right Aldryami magic, every forest already IS a massive army. For a sizeable soldier, I would expect magic could produce them via growth-acceleration magic. Some species of trees can grow to about 4 meters their first year. But Aldryami warfare doesn't rely on only "soldiers" -- vines to entangle (particularly thorny ones), spores to choke & poison, etc etc etc...
  6. Dispassionate about individual offspring isn't Vulcan-style logic, though. As I understand it, Vulcans are very involved and interested om their offspring (though not displaying human-style "passion" about it). Most plants are, in RW biological terms, very strongly r-selected. They produce offspring in the hundreds, or thousands; over the lifespan of a long-lived tree, possibly into the millions of viable seeds.
  7. This could be argued, actually; at least in part and in some cases. There are some places where plants clearly create a sub-environment of their very own, favorable to their progeny and unfavorable to competing species. The most striking that I have personally met is the Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). Deep redwood forests are notably different from other forests I've been in, and there are few if any other kinds of trees there. Still... that is perhaps the exceptional case. I think your basic notion -- elven dispassion toward their young, as individuals -- is an excellent one!
  8. I'd allow Pavis and any other Dwarf-Friend cults to -- at least potentially -- have access to Alchemy; at least on an individual basis if not as a "Cult-wide" feature. But yeah - Lhankor Mhy. Not even a stretch. It's a Lore so it's straight-up LM core skill. Classic "Alchemist Adventures" seeking lost knowledge in ruins, hidden knowledge from Trolls & Elves & other Elder Races, etc etc etc.

    Mongoose Stats

Not all of Orlanth's kin were/are entirely friendly with his wife... This would obviously be among the more-unfriendly.
  10. It's worth noting that shadow cats are more than mere pets... because Yinkin is Orlanth's brother. I would't go with "shadowanimal" for any other species, unless I had some myth about an interaction with Yinkin. I like the idea of mongoose for the venomous-snake problem. I could even see Mythologizing that, with Yinkin being unable to overcome some poisonous Hydra or Wyrm or some such... Mongoose helps Yinkin so then Yinkin rewards Mongoose, and then etc etc etc... YGMV
  11. It's a pretty good resource, very immersive: http://www.glorantha.com/site-apps/clan/sartar.html
  12. With Google just a tab away, there's no (good) excuse not to understand...
  13. These are outlaws with guns, so I'd go with gunpowder in the larger quantity. I think there's 10 outlaws, 1 barrel per, so over 3 months' drinking water. If they are planning to withstand a seige, they will need LOTS of powder...

    Crimson Bat

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the Official And Canonical answer is "YGMV."
  15. Can anybody confirm that the dice (the expansion set) at the webstore now have the corrected version of the hit-location die?
  16. I will suggest that there is no "hard sci-fi" FTL ... Oh, there are interesting speculations, but no hard science. YMMV. Cryosleep is pretty boring RP, for interstellar space travel! That leaves space travel within our solar-system, with very "Age of Sail" timeframes for travel (but likely minimal/zero piracy) and storylines accordingly. Shipboard RP can be a serious thing... espionage, romance, etc etc etc.
  17. Cyber-Polar-bears. Kodiaks are mounts for the Tlingit, Haida, etc.
  18. Bit of a necro, sorry for that ... As noted, 2 years is kind of a long time after the fact to be inquiring; it's not clear to me that your friend's issue(s) can be meaningfully addressed. I note that you "just found" BRPCentral, so I guess that explains why you are bringing this up after so long. A quick google suggests that there isn't a big problem with the Rogue Cthulhu organization, e.g. http://grogheads.com/featured-posts/15307 who played *SEVEN* of their events at Origins 2017 (one presumes they'd have spent their time doing something else, if the events sucked). I didn't spot any other people complaining or saying RC Keepers didn't know the rules, or made up rules. I can only presume your friend got unlucky with a brand-new Keeper who wasn't quite up to speed, one who was having an off day, etc.
  19. The "mystique" of martial arts is that -- as a systematic and codified suite of intensively-studied and practiced techniques -- they sometimes produce very-lopsided encounters vs other systems with different systematics and codifications. Plus of course the eastern-mysticism stuff -- ki/chi, etc... But the difference of techniques is key. Early MMA, I was hearing all about "shoot-fighters" as dominant... but look at what happened when the Gracie family brought BJJ to the MMA field... they dominated for years, until other MMA fighers figured out how to adapt. RE MMA vs other styles, it's worth noting that "dueling-centric" (1:1) systems, particularly groundfighting ones like MMA, become much more dangerous to the user in s melee/battlefield situation, vs. that "duel" scenario. Groundfighting is (broadly speaking) dominant vs. upright striking systems in a "ring" or other duel, but nobody wants to go to the ground on a battlefield...
  20. <toothless Billy Crystal>: "You ARE the fireworks stand!"
  21. Indeed. And one rater suspects Illumination is involved. Though I hadn't previously heard of Illumination via the Machine God ...
  22. What, another one? That makes... uh... 27 Fast Talk riddles. Or 42, depending on the authorities you consult.
  23. I ... do not believe your tinfoil hat will stop a charge by Cceratopsian cavalry.
