  1. Yeah, this. It usually takes me a day or two after a Con, and /I/ don't have to break down a big ol' booth after everyone else is done, etc...
  2. I do NOT adore.the mobile skin. I thought I had added this... But nooooo ....
  3. It was posted here on BRPCentral by user Dimbyd, IIRC, I don't have a copy. I didn't save the link, but the search shouldn't be too onerous.
  4. Also sometimes stuff changes... FrEx, Jeff mentioned that the Gods book jumped way ahead when, in a frenzy of creative inspiration from cult-writeups for earlier books, he moved straight into the other Cults, months ahead of schedule. So that one may have bumped up-schedule, while other(s) may have bumped down-schedule. Some freelancers turn in work needing minimal edits, far ahead of schedule. Others not so much. Etc Etc Etc. Crative stuff is hard to assembly-line.
  5. I saw a pretty big list of projects / plans / etc that Jason (iirc) gave out in a seminar at one of the earlier summer 'cons... @Dymbid was the poster iirc. That was only a couple of months ago, and was YEARS of publications. I doubt the overall shape or scope has changed much since then!
  6. <Drools harder> Though I admit surprise; I'd have though HQ (or trying the dual or even triple stat thing) would be worth a shot, particularly under Mr.Laws' war-banner... 😉
  7. As Obi-wan might say: "... from a certain point of view!" Gods can & do change, but it usually takes a rift in the Compromise to do so, a Choas-incursion. Recalling that Time was the great Chaos-halting work that saved Glorantha before, I can imagine some Spirits having an "Oh shit!" moment when they realize that Chaos is coming for all.of Glorantha -- including them -- and they are locked-out of the greatest Chaos-stopping bulwark ever created.
  8. Personally, I find the best framework to be that the Shaman/Spirit interaction has some explicitly transactional & bargaining elements: I will perform THIS quest to be taught THAT spell; I will do THESE rituals to avoid THOSE curses; etc. Worshippers always worship, even when they aren't explicitly requesting or receiving anything specific. I think some Spirits COULD be Gods... if they preferred that style of interacting with their followers. But they don't. I suppose there may be some wannabe-gods that simply cannot sustain worshippers' devotion, though (a) I don't know of any, canonically; & (b) I don't know if my own conceptual framework on this fits well with the designers' conceptual framework. Also, I think you are correct to note that (mostly) God's are limited by the Compromise of Time, and that Spirits (mostly) are not -- or that the Gods support the Chaos-binding web that is Time, but Spirits do not This may be another motivation for an entity to prefer one state over another.
  9. HQG? RQG? 13G? All the above?
  10. This. I was about to write essentially this very post (but probably not as well). So tyvm Soltakss!
  11. So in the massed-combat context, the swordbreaker wouldn't see much use, just as the very-long-pike (3+ ranks deep) wouldn't see much use /outside/ the massed-combat context. I'm fine with that. I would hope we'd get enough variety in mini's to see 'newts with swordbreakers and 'newts without...
  12. I see that the issues just get murkier the deeper you look into them. I'm sorry for that, and for any bad advice I have offered. I continue to think the BRP chassis is worth attention (even by developers who desire to avoid even potential/theoretical violations of (c)).
  13. IIRC, the "hunter-seeker" was inside a bedroom, and no Shield was present. We don't know if a Shield would have been relevant or not.
  14. Despite the disputes around the Mongoose OGLs/SRDs, you DO have options within the BRP/d100 (originally RQ) system. I urge you to contact d101 games and/or TheDesignMechanism. Chaosium has said they both have agreements. Either one may have a license that entirely works for your needs. And of course Chaosium itself offers licenses. All three also offer reasonable fan-policies. If I were looking to publish, I'd ask all three and see what my options were.
  15. Sounds pretty good. A couple of items I'd add: Elevate cardboard boxes off the ground. Ideally, airflow all-round (ie a wire rack or shelf). I know it's a pain, but an annual "new dessicant packet" traditon might be good...
  16. Maybw @boztakang could be induced to comment ... ? 😁
  17. There is the "Cult of Chaos" -- it's CoC-centric. You have to sign up, and it's not a generic "fan content" forum so much as a place for the Organized Play program to de-spoiler their convention & similar materials. However, they DO have a small library of Cult-Keeper content, in addition to the "official" Organized-Play content. Chaosium has said they have some (very early-stage) plans for a comparable program for RQG, but AFAIK it hasn't happened yet. Some RQ-folk are Cult of Chaos members, and keep the embers smoldering over in the Cult, waiting for the Dragonrise... Chaosium sponsors the "Miskatonic Repository" over on DTRPG -- fan content offered for sale with the author/designer doing all the work and getting some share of the proceeds. Again, Chaosium have said they hope to get something similar going for RQG; but nothing exists yet.
  18. The key benefits of moving to a new edition (IMHO) is that it's where all the current support and "action" is. New content, buzz, excited players, promos from publishers, from retailers, etc etc etc. Secondarily (but you may feel otherwise) is new-and-improved rules, etc. RQ3 is effectively a "dead" ruleset -- other than a very few die-hard fans putting stuff online, expect no new content for the game (that said, it's a perfectly usable RPG and if you're a DIY'er of game content by preference, this may be inconsequential to you!). 6th edition -- from The Design Mechanism -- has been renamed "Mythras" as Chaosium pulled the licensing for the "RuneQuest" name back in-house, for their own new edition (more on that below). Mythras would be the title to look for & buy, although if you got a cheap backstock/used copy the 6e "RuneQuest" book is 99.9% compatible and probably 90% identical (IIRC, the only big change is a re-write clarifying (not changing) Animism magic). There is a PDF-freebie introductory ruleset, "Mythras Imperative" (can be bought reasonably cheap if you prefer). There used to be (in the pre-Mythras era) a much-larger "RuneQuest Essentials" PDF-freebie that TDM no longer distributes (that whole (c) issue over the "RuneQuest" name ya know?)... but if you really wanted it I'm sure Google can help you find it. The "Imperative" rules are probably your best quick insight into whether you want to move that way, going forward; they are MUCH more concise than the older "Essentials" document. Some RQ fans feel Mythras the best version of BRP/d100/RQ available; others do not. Key features of Myhras/RQ6 (that distinguish it from other BRP/d100/RQ versions) include the use of "Action Points" to act within the combat-round -- skilled groups will use not only per-PC APs but consider the AP totals of their own group vs their foes, and work for strategic advantages; and the use of "Combat Effects" to shape and control battles -- these are like a much-expanded "critical/fumble" system, with much more player control. The Mythras rules are vibrantly-alive and well-supported, though it doesn't include Glorantha (fan-run sites do support Glorantha, however, if you like the world). TDM also offers an expanding "Mythic Earth" line of settings for Mythras -- Dark-Ages Britain; early-Renaissance Constantinople; Rome... and several more in the pipeline! Plus their own fantasy game-world of Thennla; plus the alt-sci/sci-fi licensed "Luther Arkwright" defend-the-multiverse setting; plus the AD&D-crossover "Classic Fantasy" line; plus the post-apocalyptic/modern-urban-fantasy "After the Vampire Wars;" and 3rd-party Frostbyte offers a sci-fi toolkit-ish "M-Space" volume. As I said... Vibrantly alive! As Psullie notes, the new "official" RuneQuest is the brand-new one from Chaosium. The actual printed copies are, as I understand it, currently in transit (on a container-ship) from the printer (a few boxes were Airshipped for Gen Con; expect those to sell out at the event!) . The PDF is currently for sale directly from Chaosium, and the cost will apply directly to your purchase of the printed rulebook when it arrives at Chaosium distribution-centers. A brand-new Bestiary book has just been locked-down to final edits, and a "GM Pack" is nearing completion. A slipcase set of Core/Beastiary/GMPack are in pre-production stages. The new edition is based heavily upon a RQ2/RQ3 core engine, with a LOT of tweaks and upgrades, and notable influences from other games too. Runes become a front-and-center game element for the first time ever. It is by far the most-Gloranthan edition or RQ ever (and a fabulously beautiful RPG, to boot!). There will later be a "GM Book" & "Cults of Glorantha" book (50 Cults, dramatically expanding upon the 20-ish in the core book), both IIRC in mostly-written stages; and there's a BUNCH more content coming down the pipeline in various stages of advancement. Last but not least: Chaosium has announced a 'Runequest: Fantasy Earth" line, with the first title, "Mythic Iceland," nearing completion; AND they have signed a new author/game-designer to produce a new BRP-based Sci-Fi game. So... ALSO vibrantly alive! Which to choose??? Well, I have 2 answers: 1. BOTH, of course. Each one is great, and they are different-enough to be meaningfully-different games. 2. If not "both" then... can't help ya, Sundance.
  19. I think there may be per-creature variation, without a general rule that applies to all. Snapping turtles are infamous for having a much more dangerous bite than other turtles their size; I haven't researched it, but strongly suspect they have a jaw-structure & muscles that produce an outside DmgBonus vs many other critters their size. Llamas, on the other hand, are generic grazers, and I wouldn't expect them to have a DmgBonus comparable to when they charge...
  20. ah-HAAA!!! <pounces in the manner of ardent fans from time immemorial> "An original setting." So not a licensed IP. More info than we had previously! At least, that I had seen. I recall a distinct implication thereof, but nothing definitive.
  21. I have also seen simple decimal-place errors, where the same seller & same item came relisted a few hours/days later at exactly 1/10 or.1/100 the price.
  22. Yes, but (and I realize I may be taking my life in my hands by asking): Will there be a Leatherette Slipcase? }:-D>
  23. TYVM, Rick! May God have mercy upon your souls... and Murphy upon your logistics !!!
  24. Heh. It's early, my vision's still a bit bleary. On first pass, I read that as discussing the "Love" skill. " ... Access to a body of knowledge," indeed!
