  1. Thanks, all! .... aaaaand my players have done the unexpected (of course) and are setting sail (Bison & Llama aboard!). Crossing the Mirrorsea, at least. Ludoch, likely. Maybe Wolf Pirates. Possibly to the God Forgot region (debarking at Refuge? Though I think it swampy there, and may not accept the keel of most boats) Maybe Durengard? But honestly, that leaves several deep-cut rivers in the plateau, that it looks like they'll have to find a way across. Duchamp? It's at least 1 fewer river to cross... Or maybe on out of the Mirrorsea. Is there anything of note on the coastline by Orani's Mistake? That looks to be the shortest/fastest route to the Block, but they may have to pay extra for such an otherwise-pointless stop... All the way to Corflu would mean cutting back, if they're to hit the Block.
  2. I haven't looked at The Troubleshooters in-person, so I'm unqualfied for extended debate. My impression from reviews (and looking at the character-sheet) has been that it looks & acts a lot like a BRP-family game, with some Fate-ish bits added on (rather as Fate itself was Fudge (with Fate bits added on)). But it's entirely possible my impression was mistaken.
  3. I like this... kind of a lot. Postapocalyptic Prax. Weird mounts. Cattle (because Orlanthi settlers). I think this ticks most/all of the OP's boxes! Bonus: the GM gets to use Sandheart early in their campaign! Vol.1 -- https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/296533/Tales-of-the-Sun-County-Militia-Sandheart-Volume-One
  4. I haven't looked at it, personally. It seems to be skill-centric (no classes) roll-low d100, which... looks to me like it's probably pretty intercompatible with BRP systems. I'm not at all sure it has any singular, linear "ancestral" system from which it's descended (or that it does not). Rolemaster/MERP/etc is an entirely-different (and much more complex) mechanic; I don't think it is related in any way to BRP (given the complexity, I presume RM was in the design-stages for a LONG time... too long for RQ/BRP to be foundational). WHFRP is... I dunno, maybe mechanically-inspired by RQ/BRP? But pretty different. But The Troubleshooters, from what I can tell, would be entirely at-home at a BRP table (or being an organ-donor to the FrankenBRP crowd).
  5. You could reach out to them with the *business* question: How much would they charge? (also: do you know who all those community-members even are? Maybe you know someone, and don't even know it...) There's clearly a want, for this to come out in hardcopy; I do think it's silly not to at at least investigate the process. But equally "silly" just to jump in whole-hog on something likely to cost you both a lot of time & money, doing it on your own.
  6. I suspect you should be asking 'round at the Jonstown Compendium & Miskatonic Repository (Chaosium's "Community Content" programs with DTRPG). While yours doesn't fall within the "CC" rubric (being neither fish nor fowl Gloranthan nor Lovecraftian) the POD-prep skills should carry straight over. In addition to Chaosium's own official Ambassadors (Nick Brooke, Bridgett Jeffries, etc)... the fans of these communities actually have the layout/POD/DTRPG skills and can likely give you the help you need without leaning on "official" resources.
  7. @AndreJarosch Another for your master-list... I think (not having actually held it in my hands & looked at the rules): The Troubleshooters is a 1960's-ish pulpy action/adventure sort of game, specifically in the mode of the Franco-Belgian style "bande dessinée" aka "bede" or BD (specifically, such examples as as Tintin, and Spirou et Fantasio, and Yoko Tsuno, &c...) From Helmgast & Modiphius.
  8. IMO nobody actually "knows" Rune spells: they are channeling an ability of their God, who has granted access to that specific ability. Most deities provide a sort of "utility" access for a broad suite of abilities -- called the "Common" Rune Spells -- to all their followers.
  9. I see the ORC License has an official (c) registered at the Fed: https://azoralaw.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/ORC-License-TX-9-307-067.pdf I don't know of any Library of Congress entry yet, but supposedly there will be a perma-copy there.
  10. EGADS, take care of yourself! Don't worry about updating rando's on a forum about your imaginary-world game...
  11. Hello, and welcome! Please, take no note of anything that seems to be oddly moving in the empty corners hereabouts... they prefer not to be noticed. I s'pose then that it's best then to get out the old stone athame, and the obsidian flensing knife, draw the pentacle, and... Say, aren't there any spare virgins left??!? Anyone? ... Bueller? <sigh> That's the thing about chickens, y'know? Stuff 'em in a cage & feed 'em, you can be sure they're virgins when you need one! Iä R'lyea! @Mike M ftagn! Iä! Iä! There! Just you wait a bit ... I'm sure it won't hurt (for very long). At least, the screaming is pretty brief. Usually.
  12. not at all sure that's actually a typo (in the sense of an unintended error). just sayin'
  13. Not sure that *I* want it, either. But I'm absolutely certain that there are folks who do want it... I note that (in principle) it's not so very different from the RQ rule whereby mounted/charging lancers get their mount's damage-bonus.
  14. This is (a) a fair point, and (b) out of step with these effete, modern, grubbing-for-every-bonus times we live in. 😉 More seriously, I've only seen this "velocity of the mount" argument relatively recently; I don't think gamers were addressing this question back in the 70's & early 80's tho I'd be glad if someone could cite any evidence to the contrary. It was tested by the mythbusters team, and confirmed (their crossbow achieved 2" more penetration shot from a moving Jeep). So for max simulation accuracy, "Mobility" should indeed up the damage of missile weapons!
  15. My understanding is that Bits&Mortar loops the publisher out of things. IF your FLGS participates in Bits&Mortar, they will get you a download-code for the PDF when you buy the hardcopy from them; check with them (my 3 closest FLGS's don't participate, and i drive an hour to buy from one that does). It's explicitly not a wide-open / all-retail-seller arrangement (and it specifically excludes large online discounters). It's supposed to be a boost for the FLGS market, which has been struggling for decades with surviving in the face of Amazon &c.
  16. <handwaves> You'd do that all once, up-front, during the game-design step. Then (depending on what you've found) give the weapon a +1 or +2 damage boost, or step it up a die-type, or whatever.
  17. Got a couple of White Bull Praxians (1 PC, 1 NPC) who've been doing the fish-out-of-water thing in Nochet, but it's time to go home. Both Praxians are Uroxi, so their 1st destination will likely be The Block. There's another PC -- a CA White Lady - who is tagging along because she has been advised it would be Politically Expedient if she were (far) away for at least a year or two; she figures she can mitigate the bloodshed of a couple of SB's, and they can offer her physical protection against whatever might not honor her white robes, so it's a match made in... well... practicality, not heaven. 😉 They've decided not to hire onto a caravan, they're going to travel independently (overland, not across the Mirrorsea). The "obvious" route -- I think -- is along the edge of the water, passing south of the Shadow Plateau & through southern Heortland, south of the Stormwalk, then turning northward & passing near Monkey Ruins. But maybe I'm forgetting a problem with that...? Should/would they be going upriver from Nochet, and passing north of the plateau, going through Beast Valley & Sartar &c? Or am I overlooking some other, better route that would occur to them? (eta: both players are new to playing in Glorantha, so it's tempting to throw them into All. That. Sartar. But in-character, they have no real reasons to linger & explore; they want to go back home, reconnect with their clans & tribes, and with the White Bull Society.) Any advice as to route? And, for any route recommended, and in-character "must-see" places (or GM-perspective "must-adventure" locations / modules, whether Chaosium or JC)? Thanks!
  18. I guess it's also worth checking if you have tried the game formerly called "Hero Wars" & "HeroQuest" ... it's more narratively focused, less crunchy/simulationist, than the RQ ruleset. It had 2 Gloranthan editions, and a general-use / non-setting-specific one. It's out of print, as Chaosium sold the name (but not the RPG) to AvalonHill/Hasbro (and the "Heroquest" boardgame is now available from them). Chaosium's HW/HQ ruleset has been renamed QuestWorld, and is available as a free SRD (on github, I think). Chaosium is working on the print edition; an announcement is coming soon. The used aftermarket still has the older print copied showing up, occasionally; and of course you can grab the SRD right away... AIUI, the SRD is going setting-agnostic again, with a Gloranthan resource-pack / expansion planned to follow shortly; the fan community should be able to help you with any needed Gloranthafications of the generic rules from the SRD.
  19. Depending on whether you're using the canonical timeline -- and when this season is happening -- you might also go with the Lunars as bad-guys: they are working to undercut Ernalda's independence, to get her to accept a Lunar alliance.
  20. Oh, a very "Shakesperian Comedy" take on the scenario!!! Love this one!
  21. Note that most Americans have problems understanding American legal texts.
  22. Hello, and welcome! Also, best of luck in your search! Also: @Scotty @Trifletraxor @Symphony Entertainment @Nick Brooke pointing to the thread I posted a while back: ... 🙏 Please?! 🤩
  23. It's another one of (many) exemplars of "crossing the streams," of atomic-element-A co-opting something from atomic-element-B... specifically addressing @Sir_Godspeed's remarks on the "elemental identity" thing being abused (specifically -vs- and wasp-vs-Yelmalian).
  24. I'm pretty sure AA is the patron of trollkin spear-use... doesn't get much more anti- than a sky/light/fire weapon!
