  1. not a full answer, but remember that even in sun county there are not only yelmalio cultists, you can find Yelm priests, and Yelm is (was ?) emperor of the deads, so its priests may have the role to burn the dead people with their god's powers
  2. so do I. that is the key point, what do pc between adventures. But of course they would have to explain how they are in a position. If, at the end of an adventure, they are far from home (and unknown by the locals), it is more difficult to be a noble (income at least) except if the pc are great courtiers. So players need some roleplay, strategy and maybe dices to explain they are "still" nobles (still or ... new, after all, if they are skilled enough deceive the locals) a big point too but not totally, irrelevant if you focus on money for the next adventure, but noble have access to leaders, can obtain favors, know where to go (next scenario) so are the leaders of their group (best reward), etc... Of course only if they acts as nobles are expected to be (a player may want to be a noble refusing to be noble, and a gm may send a noble to bad situation, only to balance with others players, no pain no gain) When a warrior will be hired (some guilders) to kill a monster because a sorcerer needs its ears for some weird magic, a noble will be send to kill the same monster but to save the clan and to gain maybe more hides or at least some great items
  3. a fun fact, after your video, youtube proposed me a video whose title is " c'est dangereux par ici " (it is dangerous here) so it seems your art is understood by youtube's algorithm 😛 good job by the way. I didn't know there were columns and some build part in this place. I have to explore the story
  4. as other I m not sure the issue is race: when you worship your god with satyres and centaurs, trade with troll, and eat newtling, I m not sure the human physical differences are really important the point is more the culture, the country , the god , the other represents. so yes you lunar tarshite will face some issue if she speaks lunar and not tarshite she shows lunar gods runes she explains the red goddess is the best one and she loves the red emperor and appreciate chaos magic if not... how to see a difference between an orlanthi tarshite and a lunar tarshite ? then the point is more what the npc think about tarshites ? because they are not from their clan / tribe / kingdom, not because their skin color
  5. Mmmmmm Honestly i m not sure of the effect I consider plant rune like beast rune: the rune completing the man rune to define a being So if a human being gains plant rune i would impact it : a) the total amount plant + beast + man runes must stay at 100% (so player may have to reduce beast or man or both runes) b) the body should be transformed (or maybe just the soul?): less flesh more wood ? less skin more bark and leaves ? less hair more leaves and flowers ? so no advice about the total. Just Check about your security if one of your player cannot accept he is now a sentient tree 😅
  6. I think there are two things : - what you are, for this discussion, what are your runes scores - what is your god(dess)'s runes you may be a humakti, a bab'sister or worshipper of any death cult, without a high score in Death Rune. Of course not a full life defender, but just a "normal" person (50/50) for example I can imagine some worshippers of babs who join the cult for any reason but take the role of scout, tracker, investigator, watchwoman, or judge but not to kill kill kill. Probably a minority, but what about a woman who seek justice from some oath breaker ? justice, not just violence. What about a woman who wants to serve the earth temple but for any reason cannot join ernalda (some oath/curse from an ancestor, because she failed as ernaldan, etc ...) ? What about a woman who cannot accept to manage the house, wants adventure, but is a earth woman, not a vingan ? so for me, a Bab's with 90% in death rune would probably never give birth, not because Bab's, but because her body is rune, and a Bab's with 50% in death rune may give birth (except if her goddess, or herself, choose to prevent it with herbs, magic, and others practices ..)
  7. One choice among others personaly i dislike the concept of divine spell is a spell worshippers are worshippers not sorcerers Gods are gods, not source of magic but all dépends on players and gm table, for sure
  8. interesting, I did not notice the birth , more focused on what I remember (or believe I remember) about the "back from hell" prize (well is there a documented travel to show how a giant come back from hell ?) however thanks for this perspective so obious once said !
  9. just an idea: the craddle a big travel, from the mountain to the hell maybe a too passive quest however ? but the prize would be changing your own nature (baby -->young adult) could be understanding the world, making friend / alliance with weird entities (in Hell planes) or a big gain in any physical capacity
  10. it is easier for players use, for sure. Now... I found it less epic than previously, that's "just" a spell matrix, but with ability to change the spells in the matrix after using it. usefull but an upgrade. Not a great thing, empowered by the power of a community, when you can imagine people sacrificing all they can by devotion to their god, if the finder was strong enough to resist the stone, or just a poor artifact if the finder succumbed to the ring's stone's call
  11. back to the truestone, I read again and again, I m not so sure of how you understand this sentence what does part mean ? Forget what you know about truestone in previous edition I m not sure that part means "the spells the first owner cast" I m more convinced there are 3(4) parts: room for spirit spell, room for divine spell, room for magic points (room for sorcery) Why I am convinced ? because this sentence : the black bold defines the "room" of spirit magic. Am I wrong when I understand the red bold says you can put what you want as spirit spells with the only restriction that the amount of spirit spells is 10pts ? example : the first caster cast bladesharp 10 the true stone was used, and the next one fill with heal 6 and bladesharp 4 (6+4=10), then heal was used, and the owner (different or not) can add strength and 4 points are available (4 old bladesharp+2+4) is there some subtility I miss, or the bias is our memory says "always the same spell" but, in fact, rqg says nothing about that ?
  12. that seems to me normal, as stasis doesn't change when casting a spell is for sure an attempt to change something or another option (maybe a dumb theory however)
  13. I hope so ! it is not only entertaining but also insightful
  14. yes, my opinion follows this sentence (bestiary) "A wyter is incapable of recovering its own magic points. Instead, the community worships the wyter and gives it magic points on the wyter’s seasonal holy days. This worship is often combined with that of a local cult, such as Orlanth or Ernalda, making the wyter a local subcult of the greater cult" but, re-reading the sentence, I think something else.. .not so far than divinity but maybe more acceptable subcult of the greater cult =>not only god's aspect cult but hero cult (well maybe heroes are minor god's aspect, maybe not) it seems to me that it is approximately the same mechanic than hero points, as I understood Jeff during the white bull campaign, if you remember : the hero points are not refreshed by the heroes activity (worshippin some god) but by their followers activity (heroes are worshipped). seems to me this is the point (of course juste my "goût" no worries too, except your french is becoming better than my english, that's sad) : there are people in mundane world who share their soul's energy (mp, pow) to gain power/feat from otherworld entities (hero, spirit, wyter, god ...), and hero, spirit, wyter, god, ... in any planes, mundane included, who share their power but need energy from mundane world people to cast their hero power/feat (at least in mundane world), I mean an entity may have some all-worlds powers, that need no energy from others (like a disease spirit sharing its disease) and have some hero/god plane powers, that need energy when cast in others planes than hero/god planes
  15. that must be more than that (of course there is something like what you say) something more "spiritual" "from the otherworld", etc... there are two way to answer @PhilHibbs questions: - a pure gameplay perspective: what is allowed, what can do the players - a background perspective explaining "why" players can do or not. That is what I m looking for. I can easily (with my taste, of course, others could decide something else) answer that I don't allow a runespell matrix to be extended or that two runepools cannot be merged to create a more powerful effect. I have a "gloranthan rational" for that, that is not only "because it is the rule in the book p XXX". and my point about matrix (and even more with truestone) is I have not enough "gloranthan rational". I supposed the soul extension of the creator (the caster, not the craftman)
  16. no no, of course I know it 😛 my point is "what is a matrix in the world of glorantha, if I were a Nochet scholar, how could I understand what is a matrix"
  17. my global principles : wyters are spirits from a community, when the community worships a pantheon, a wyter should be seen as a "sub cult / part" of the deitiy. As a sub part of the god, wyter should have a part of the god's power = RP and list of spells. I make a difference with initiation: they are not initiates, they are "sub-god" rune magic is divine magic, you call the power of your god, you don't do what you want with your powers. Do what you want with sorcery, not with the gods then : depends on the wyter's capacity, spells known, etc. stronger it is more capacity it has. Why not this one ? no, the rules are clear (bestiary p174) "A wyter spends points of its characteristic POW instead of Rune points when casting Rune spells with a chance of success equal to its CHAx5. " what it means for me ? wyter have rune points (same page, Kogui has 10 RP / 23 POW) but this RP are not here to be burned, they just say what is the limit of manipulation, you may have 23POW, you cannot use a divine spell (extension included) with more than your rune points (10) that's the big point : wyters are not initiates, wyter are gods on mundane world of course no (of course = my idea, you can do what you want 😛 ) what is a matrix ? an extension (no joke ) of your soul or a part/remains of the original caster soul ? so for me : the matrix contains your soul (you are the caster during the enchantement process)... why not. You get the matrix from someone else ... would say no That is the difference with sorcery. what is truestone ? clealry I m lost to answer (I know what is it that is not the point) for this question I hope we will have some official answer, even if I don't follow it, I will appreciate to understand the official point
  18. not raw, just my thoughts it may happen. But it shouldn't happen all the times after all, when people want to heroquest, they may fail even to "enter". There is no (for me good) reason to do it but it may happen. When dices say it (for example , roll an idea-INT / feeling-POW to see if the pc understand / feel that is "like the myth" and now "they are the myth" ) or when the GM decides. Personaly I never let the dices decide when/if an important scene should happen.
  19. so do I, but you can let them with "noble rank". Personaly, I play it like that : they are not "noble" because they succeed and "gain" some land but because they need to be well appreciate by the court. Somewhere, that is harder for Orlanthi: they are not free, not enough responsible, not enough honorable, just children of their parents and they depend on the ring goodwill.
  20. You !!! You are chaotic and illuminate to say such !!!
  21. Absolutly but do not forget the most important if they stay in their cultural area: relationship ! kings and other important people know them.. Their families are involved in the political game, some have debt, some have favors… in all cases that’s enough to speak with this adventurer and not the others ah… entre soi
  22. From my perspective When they are at home, or in a temple or court where they are known for their parent status, they can have the benefit of their family rank (occupation, income AND outcome) but older they are, more debtful (scenario hook) and loyal (passion) they are. Of course if they want to run their own fate, they have to obtain a job (warrior scribe anything they can propose and be hired)
  23. That was the case in previous version but i tried to find it in the pegasus plateau but failed the only permanent thing I found (or misunderstood…) was the split between amount of runespells, amount of spirit spells and mp storage I may be wrong and my post is more a question than an answer !
  24. Hello My ideas are not very clear about magic after Argrath. What I think have understood is : - gloranthan people continue to believe in gods (for people who believed) but the relationship is definitly not the same. - gods (if they still exist) and not able to provide any spell but not sure, and I have absolutly no idea if there are still spirits in mundane world (or are they like the gods, no more in mundane world) and if sorcery still works same question about the trolls , aldryami, and any sentient no humans people. Are they still in mundane world, or ... like in Tolkien's story, Argrath deeds consequence is now the middle world is for humans ? I read somewhere (but when/where ?) that trolls will not be any more in the same plane ? To explain my question, I m building a campaign during the setting times (1600+) "explaining" the future (king of sartar book). The big issue is ... I don't know the canon future 😛 as I m always lost when I read KoS, a little bit too hard for me thanks a lot !
