Glue and Zombies

The description of the Glue spell says (RQG p262):

So would it work on a zombie-- arguably the zombie isn't made of LIVING tissue or organic material!

A compromise - the glued area tears off the zombie without it even noticing.

d3-2 damage... sometimes 1 point, but mostly no damage.

C'mon, you guys have all encountered the assorted variations of superglue that actually work BETTER on unprotected human flesh than on the materials they were intended to bond.  And a magical technology is still technology.

So, the Glue spell description is a marketing department lie.  It may bond a pair of boards successfully.  But it will absolutely transform a zombie horde from shambling individuals into a struggling, stumbling mass of awkwardly waving limbs and gnashing hungry teeth.

Then you are applying the Glue wrongly - when the teeth are gnashing, fix them with Glue...

Corollary: you can use Glue as a fail-safe test to see if someone is dead. If the body can’t be Glued, the person is alive.

(Yes, it’s ridiculous that it works this way. Mundane glue is not famous for being unable to stick to living people.)

We played that Glue affected undead as well as living creatures, as they are not, technically, dead.

I would have Glue affect undeads, as it is a creative (moderately so, but still) application of magic ... and you still have to touch them so there is no risk it will be overused. But I would also have the zombies tear apart, the skellies would be in a pickle tho.

If it's ridiculous that it works that way, then why do you claim that it works that way?

I guess that any spell that requires a resistance roll can be used to check for Ife.

Some variants of superglue are actually designed to bond to human flesh, and marketed for medical applications. Better than suturing for some injuries. 

(technically, superglue is cyanoacetate, octyl-cyanoacetates are now sold for surgical use due to low toxicity, but plain old superglue was used for situations were we were less squeamish about the quite mild toxicity, like veterinary uses or combat medicine, for ages before that) 

But in Glorantha, magic can presumably be tweaked for usability, and most people use Healing for wound closure, and find that a Glue spell that doesn't stick to people is more useful (especially as it would regularly fail)
