  1. I pulled that website into a word doc, but I’ve not taken the time to edit yet.
  2. This is a bunch of it. Older books were also notably smaller and could bear a larger font. Small serif fonts are definitely an issue, and I wear glasses. Colored background ones are much worse. i don’t think we have to worry about the hobby going the way of the rotary phone. There are a lot of new players with a different base form what we have. They just aren’t on the forums 🙂
  3. one of the forums i'm on has something like 90% of the gamers over the age of 40 and 50% are over the age of 50. I think it is a reasonable thing to expect. nothing below 11 point
  4. yea, there are some tricks with shadowrun you have to pay attention to, like there are some severe paradigm restrictions on magic that are not well spelled out until the magic books that remove a very solid portion of the spells (frankly, most of the "problematic" ones). the other one that is interesting is that the spirits in SR are, frankly, boring as hell. virtually all of the shamanistic ones are the same set of powers over different environments and can be emulated with Mythras with nature spirits. Their elementals are also a very straight port. It lacks a lot of nuance and variance. If you start with those and start pulling in some of the core Mythras ones that are not directly represented, you get a MUCH better shaman as a whole, to the point where you start really thinking about spellcasting and spirits as different and taking that top tier of being a full mage is very impactful. Not to mention you are now nurturing 4 skills. Frankly, I liked it a lot more than core SR magic. Mysticism is only an ok representation of what is in SR. The modified version of Mysticism in Thennla using Conditioning and Puissance is a much closer direct mapping. That having been said, it might be more interesting to use Mysticism relatively unaltered. Destined powers would probably work as well.
  5. I have some marker so I was planning on publishing. It’s not specifically shadowrun but there are definitely the parts to do shadowrun
  6. yea, i don't use chrome, and my current force dark does it for every site, which I didn't want to do. thanks anyways!
  7. Is there a setting somewhere on this site that lets me view it in dark mode?
  8. this is very similar to 13th Age's Backgrounds, which is where I came up with the idea myself. I had no idea it had been used by many others but am glad.
  9. I do this in mythras for npcs. Any skill that is in their wheelhouse, they get at full value. Skills that aren’t but are adjacent get 1/3rd off. Everything else is half. I’ve been advocating this approach for several years at this point.
  10. I do these up for my games for mythras. No reason why they shouldn’t work just fine for BRPUGE

    PULP?

Cortex plus/ prime does something like this with at least some variations. Definitely has a “i told the wizard I would pay the gods” sort of vibe.
  12. @SDLeary I don't actually own it, so I couldn't tell you 🙂 yes, shocking i know.
  13. maybe a touch far afield and perhaps not as detailed as you want (hard to say there) but Destined (the superhero version of the BRP cousin Mythras) has a set of base building rules that work well. Aspects like power might have to be changed, but it includes various upgrades for facilities and the like.
  14. Count me in on this BRP universal scenario manual. Showing how different tweaks will influence the flavor of the story would be wonderful. essenrially, giving everyone the benefit of a lot of years of d100 experience.
  15. For those of you who are not quite as obsessed, 70 pages is just shy of twice the length of the current Imperative. Vehicles will be completely new to it (the one in the Companion is 11 pages).
  16. So you want 1 left foot 2 left shin 3 left thigh and so on? Probably not even hard to do, but what effects are going to distinguish different locations?
  17. I’d be pretty happy to see another round done of Aces High, perhaps with some edits towards a modern audience. rubble and ruin was published under mythras gateway not long ago, and Rodney already did Classic Fantasy. It is getting released under or as Classic Fantasy Imperative and then whatever the rest of the classes come under.
  18. I’d also point to the Mythras Companion that has Pulp rules and a modicum of pulp talents. Luther Arkwright has more talents but it isn’t especially pulp. I can confirm Destined does pulp well, as I’ve run a short campaign and played in a longer one.
  19. if you are open to poking around a bit, @clarence's M-Space (Mythras Gateway BRP derivative, lighter than Mythras, no hit locations) is built around the idea of doing space opera. certainly could steal rules out of it for your BRP one. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/194064/Mspace
  20. So, the situation here would be if the attacker had a critical and the defender had a success. This would allow a single special effect by the attacker and a successful parry. I can see Mugen’s point. It would be impossible to damage the weapon in this scenario because you wouldn’t have enough special effects to make any impact. On the other hand, it is also impossible to inflict a bleed effect as well. This assumes even sized weapons. Smaller weapons, though, would still be damaged.
  21. Mythras and classic fantasy will make it look a lot like your old game. It has classes and vancian adjacent casting and all of that. mythras by itself has a kitchen sink setting called Thennla. It is very much in a similar space. It has gods that take an active role, various pseudo-real-world cultures, and so on. You can download the Thennla doc for free from the design mechanism’s website. small plug for my own site - https://d100-workshop.blogspot.com Largely because I have a small pile of cults on there that would fit well into a world like this. Cults really just give you the structure around gating powers and abilities. bonus part is that you can use the BRP:UGE and it will be largely compatible.

    Scimitar?

I mean, nothing really stops you from changing it one way or the other. Scimitars were not really in europe, broadswords and falchions were not really in south asia. Scimitars were used into the Enlightenment period, while falchions were left behind. Falchions are available in ancient times, while scimitars are not. I would go with defining what your setting has - that's a 10000 year weapon table 🙂
