  1. You could have 1565 an 18 roll for Helped Kostajor Wolf Champion when he rescued Prince Jarosar - Gain Elder race lore (Telmori +15) (likewise you could have the same for his rescuing Terasin from Grizzly Peak in 1582)
  2. David Dunham has a page dated 2001 listing 40 clans which I think includes all those mentioned above (including the Four Gifts)
  3. I remembered wrongly RQG p.25 (and p.114) says "The tribe is divided into a dozen clans;" I'm very happy to use Hero Wars information however decannonised it may officially be so that's 5 out of the 12 clans. I even have a copy of Gathering Thunder if I'd known to look in it... I would have guessed the nature of Pure Horse clans is to move about within the whole Grazelands as they wish/can assert themselves, rather than to agree long-term allocation of pasture to individual clans. {...but, the Four Gifts Write up mentions that they (at least) are associated with a winter pasture in one specific valley}
  4. Apart from the Four Gifts clan mentioned in the RGQ book P116 do we know the names of the Grazelanader clans? I thought I'd read yesterday that there are 6 clans but now I can't find that info in the Guide or in the QRG book
  5. This Emali clan description tugs a lot of memories of growing up Catholic in southern England in the last century. Despite influencing your world-view, and revealing that at other times and in other places it is a huge deal for your personal integrity, (fortunately) in your daily life everybody knows (a bit) and nobody (much) cares.
  6. Elmy, schmely... pass the beer nuts
  7. I would say a God Learner is both someone learning about specific gods and about godhood in general, in a way gods themselves would not comprehend. Also they are someone with a great deal of personal ambition, probably aiming to become a god in the same way EWF leaders aim to become a dragon or Sedenya aims to become an element. If I had to invent a Godlearnerism for God Learner it would be something like Emergent Demiurge.
  8. Let's hope baboon Goldang gets in there...
  9. Whilst playing Six Ages, it occurred to me that if I'd had a huge temple to Nyala instead of a measly shrine, it might have come with a very handy 'bomb shelter' below the sub basement which would have been be of more than liturgical utility in certain exigences. An Earth temple would make a natural rally point after disasters, and depending on how migratory a clan is, probably a fall-back position in adversity.
  10. Bears give birth during hibernation. It's a sign that they are alive. The King can be one of the Odaylan's cubs. The other cub will be someone surprising and inconvenient. The Odalyan comes back as a woman.
  11. Why does Lankhor Mhy not just give the women devotees a spell that grows breads for the day/week/season etc? Is that too ikkily material for a God of intellect? But if that were the case surely he wouldn't care that they didn't have them, they'd just need to behave as if they had them (e.g. not wear elaborate necklaces or perhaps even low necklines to avoid entanglement or discomfort due to the discorporate beard)
  12. As if giants weren't in enough trouble already!
  13. In the the first age before the God-learner word processor laser printer quests there were mechanical contraptions called duplicators which in practise required application of correction fluid to fix errors mistakenly cut into stencils. It was often referred to as cor-flu. Anyway, I was wearing an onion on my belt with was the fashion at the time...
  14. Things have changed substantially. In the No-longer-canon 'Thunder Rebels', the heard mothers of the Orlanthi, Entra, Nevala and Uralda don't even seem to be closely related to Eiritha, but descend from Esrola.
  15. ... and Slorifings, they are all male and rely on 'nymphs' (Olarians - daughters of Uleria and Aldrya) to perpetuate. They live in swamps and are able to cope with high temperatures. All spore-bearing plants are related to Slor and the Slorfings. {I really need to find out how to turn off autocorrect when I post here Ocarinas are not ocarinas}
  16. Are the protectresses and founders of the Ostrich tribe in the typical Eiritha daughter and Stormbull scion mould? Or is there also some star captain heritage there? Ostrich Mother dropped from the sky and as I recall her children were adopted by Eiritha with a bit of Raven finagling The Ostrich Grasslands are even closer to the copper sands than Prax, so Stormbull connection would be quite understandable
  17. There's some stuff from the lunar perspective in the old Imperial Lunar Handbook 2 Under the Red Moon Erelia and Verelia glorantha.wikia.com/Star_Twins
  18. I know some Ravens who would join this dance from down the road at Upton https://youtu.be/Lplzhj86y_M
  19. Of course the only reason that I compiled this (apologies to Kirby Sattler and David Yorke whose american indian portraits are worth a look) is that I felt that the thread would be incomplete without this ...

    He wants to heroquest to show that Orlanth, in his final contest with Bright Emperor, only sent to the underworld Emperor's Shadow and not Bright Emperor himself. cut to Yelm stepping out of shower "What?" Says Yelm as Good Wife raises an eyebrow fade to wonderhome

    Hibernation

    Look, he's a squirrel, he spends three seasons running around gathering food and cussing lumbering humans who've put big piles of stone around his territory, he needs his rest, alright?
  23. When I tried visualising the nightclub dryad for Rowdy Djo Lo's, she came out with a similar appearance. Like Star Trek, you can only make a few small changes to primate morphology before the alien becomes difficult to act a scene with. It works OK in the horror milieu but if I'm looking for allies or guides I'd prefer a Durulz, Enlo or Vonkali or even a Mostali to a Dragonnewt or a Goldwheel dancer. Some Aldryami are more obviously weirder and scarier than others, but without some of them more aligned to the Man-rune norms they would have had a harder time keeping in with the Second Council. That said, under the surface even the more relatable Aldryami can be pretty weird with their communal ethos and long-view perspective. Their iris-less eyes possibly relate to their affinity for sunlight, there's no such thing as blinding light as far as they are concerned? Having coloured eyes presumably means that they see less of that colour (since more of it 'escapes'), but lots of animals see different colours from mammals indigo and yellow anyway, so they may see some colours outside the human visual spectrum. Many flowers have ultraviolet patterns, it might make sense for Aldryami to be able to inspect these. I hadn't realised how many Aldryami there are in Ralios, (nearly twice the number in Fronela: 310k in Ballid, 390kTarinwood and 10k in Wonderwood). I worry a bit that the strong connection to woodland makes them a bit one-dimensional (are there elf-friend plots that don't involve protecting ceremonies from enemy races or the coming reforestation plan?) Tree-associated Aldryami are the strongest, but there are flower sprites and bush runners too that people ought to overlap withy more even if they don't have the intelligence of a Mreli, Vronkali or Dryad. Do the elves come around and ask your clan ring to hold off cutting the water meadows for a few weeks this year because the orchid sprites got a slow start in a cold spring? Do Voria initiates get to hang out withe the sprites in the long summer evenings? Red elves may have had the Malkioni colour of fire (or moon) but I'd hardly associate ferns and mosses as natives of hot fiery places in Pamaltella (hot steamy places certainly or cold boggy ones but not the fiery desert. Perhaps those white sun elves were/are cactus lovers, all those spines are a bit like rays of light... or maybe we need some orange elves to root for cacti and suculents.
