  1. Sounds good to me. Just run with it and don't sweat the small details that the players will never ever find out.
  2. I coudn't agree more, lots of adventures please. Less of the endless sourcebooks detailing useless information such as 3000 year histories that are completely irrelevant to most gamers needs. I really don't care what colour Pavis' socks are !! Please look at the D&D 5e model, they're pumping out campaign after campaign. I think they've got about five out now in the last four years. Now don't jump down my throat, I love Runequest and want it to succeed and am really looking forward to RQG but it must be supported with campaigns and adventures. Beornvig...I'd love a copy of your Balazar Quest notes, having ran a recent Griffin Mountain campaign myself and experiencing similar problems. I just cobbled together old White Dwarf scenarios to form a a loose campaign.
  3. I think the RQ3 Griffin Island had a floor plan of the newly constructed Lunar temple in Elkoi, indeed my players broke into it
  4. Thanks for the freebie Rick, it's appreciated. I really like the fact you're keeping the layout, artwork and "feel" of the originals. Long may this continue!!
  5. Hi Guys I'm not sure if this has been asked before on this forum but does anyone know if anybody is developing a Runequest 2 (Classic) Encounter Generator along the lines of the suberb Runequest 6 generator. Thanks
  6. This is good news, it seems Chaosium is heading in the right direction. There's money to be made in them old rulebooks and supplements. As much as I like the Gloranthan Classics I'd love to see them reprinted using the old layout, fonts and using the original artwork including the old awesome covers. I can;t say I was impressed with the "new" artwork in the Gloranthan Classics...sorry Rick, but that's just me. Even if they're all print on demand, its good news. I'm sure I'll pick this book up anyway.
  7. Hi I am probably out on a limb so.... I'm not really into rules systems as such but if you give me a sh*t hot campaign (a la Borderlands/Masks of Nyarlathotep/Enemy Within/Alchemists Wife etc) to go with it then I may be interested. BRP scenarios are so closely related that you can swap and change things at will. You need to get your best story writers on to this not rules lawyers. I am sure a rule system will live or die by this mantra. My tuppence worth, that's all Ed
  8. I'm not a millionaire by any means but as I'm nearing the half century I have a bit of dosh to spend every now and then, certainly more than I did in 1980 something. Now I would pay for anything that resembles a big campaign pack that simulates a Runequest or Call of Cthulhu games from back in the day such as Borderlands, Masks of Nyarlathotep etc etc. It doesn't need colour or fancy covers but needs a good story arc. This will, in my mind make or break a Rule system. I have yet to see a modern BRP game with a decent campaign attached with the exception of the "King and Commonwealth" for Runequest 2. I'm fed up with the numerous rule systems that are out there but if I see one that has a decent campaign then my eyes will light up, So come on guys write some scenarios.
  9. All you need for a Jack the Ripper scenario is any crowded city (which London was as this time, just smaller in diameter) and a madman with a sharp knife. So I think most definitely yes.
  10. If you're really interested in the Renaissance era then don't give up on Clockwork and Chivalry. The kingdom and Commonwealth is a cracking campaign, I have not ran or played it but it is brilliantly written with plenty of politics. It has been published in two editions, one for Mongoose Runequest and the other Renaissance deluxe. Both systems would be a snap to convert to other BRP systems. I've considered using it for Strombringer, Call of Cthulhu and even in a Runequest Harn setting. It is basically set during the English Civil War but with a bit of effort could be used between any two nations at war, the campaign is that good, it is worth it.
  11. This is good news because my gaming group has, a year ago, started to play RQ6 in Glorantha. My only concern is that they will rewrite the rules for RQ7. I have just got my head around RQ6 and can;t be bothered to try and learn a "new" system especially because I am from the old days of RQ2. Runequest needs some stability with plenty of scenarios and adventures to concrete the rules. Because for me the Numenera rules are lurking around the corner.
  12. Its so expensive, I cannot afford it, so why should I vote for it, even though I want to!
  13. Maps look fantastic. However at the risk of appearing ungrateful, is there any chance you can put dots where the towns are located. I find I have to keep referring back to the original map in the book. Cheers
  14. Is this map still "up" I can't seem to see it or download it..
  15. Can I ask when is this being released? I'd definatley buy this even if its only for the stats.
  16. Yes the old Chaosium Foes book, pages of statistics of anything you were likely to encounter/fight. I have tried the online npc generator but I think the links are down. I have also downloaded tooley1chris' npc book which is great but at 300 pages and 1 npc to a page takes a while to find anything. I,d have to print the whole thing out to make it easier to read. What i need is about ten to a page stat blocks of guards, townsfolk, villains, barbarians, orcs, trolls etc etc. I am thinking along the lines of the Runequest 6 encounter generator which is brilliant and prints out six npcs to a page. Cheers guys
  17. Having played Runequest 2, Cthulhu and Stormbringer back in the 80s and geting back into playing a few years ago (mainly RQ2, Cthulhu and Runequest 6). I have been investigating a decent BRP system for my old Harn setting. I must say that after looking at all of the aforementioned systems I have found none of them particularly suitable or flexible enough for my tastes. Even RQ6 seems a bit too clunky. I was always wary of the the old Stormbringer system because it didn't seem to feel right to me but Magic Worlds systemless approach just seems to hit the nail. I have read through the book a few times and now ordered Advanced Sorcery hopefully to give it a bit extra, but I am quite impressed with what at first seems like a very "basic" Basic Roleplaying system but is actually quite detailed where it needs to be. Maybe looks can be deceiving. (the cover and inside look a bit too..dare I say childish, I love the old Chaosium art but not the new stuff, its frankly rubbish). I don't mean to be derogatory because I find the system a real beauty. The only thing I need is some "Foes" type stats to make my life easier Hopefully we will see more releases for this system .
  18. Aah I think I understand now. I thought it was needed everytime someone casts a spell to overcome a persons willpower or evade. Thanks for the help guys.
  19. Thanks for the quick reply but I must be really stupid because I still don't understand why anyone would put shaping points on Magnitude. Just how does it "punch through magical defences" does it make the invocation role "easier" by a certain percentage. I need a mechanic for this.
  20. Can someone explain just how Magnitude works, If the Sorceror casts his spell using Invocation against an opponents Willpower (for exmple). He uses his Shaping points to add (say) 3 points to the Magnitude, just what does this do. I have read and read the Magic chapters over and over again but Runequest 6 doesn't really give a proper explanation as to what happens when someone casts a spell. Any help here will be greatly appreciated as my group are tentatively moving over to RQ6 from the 80's RQ2 but this is just bugging me. I'm not sure what Intensity is either....and I really want to run with RQ6 with my Harn setting but can't seem to get anywhere...
  21. Thanks for the reply I really hope it gets finished because I think it deserves it. Its one of the only campaigns that I have actually burst out laughing whilst reading quietly, with such fantastic scenes such as the mad Hopton in Cornwall and The Feculent Egg. I've gotta run this campaign....
  22. Not sure if this has been asked before but I have just read through this excellent campaign, in fact it reads as the best campaign I have ever read since the early days of rpging back in the early 80s. However my group are only just moving tenderly over to Runequest 6 which is comparable to the Legend/Runequest II system which this campaign was originally written for (I think). So my question is... will this superb campaign ever see its conclusion i.e. Hobbes Leviathon etc and knowing that the rules system has changed in the intervening years will it include conversion notes. I mean, this campaign must see its rightfull conclusion as it is epic in all areas. c'mon guys do us all a favour and release this. Eddy
  23. I don't care what name you call it just give me scenarios, scenarios or adventures, adventures maybe even campaigns, campaigns. Pleeeeeease
  24. I like Clannad (Robin of Sherwood anybody) and Enya. I also really dig this time period, ie. the end of the Romans to the invasions from northern Europe, very mystical and evocative (to me at least). But for some reason whenever I think of Arthur and Merlin I always imagine Knights in shining armour, and yes I have watched the abysmal Clive Owen film. So, when I eventually buy this I may have to ditch the main protagonists. Having said that, Its a major step in the right direction for the Design Mechanism...so well done.
