  1. For me, Trolls, Elves, Mermen, Ducks, Baboons, and, perhaps, Clay Mostali, are all descended from Grandfather Mortal and all share many characteristics. So, they are not alien, as they have a common "Humanity". Living Trees, Dryads, Dragonewts, Dehori, Jolanti, Unicorns, Minotaurs, many Nymphs and so on are not descended from Grandfather Mortal, so are alien in nature. So, for example, I could not even begin to understand how an Alrdyami Great Tree thinks. It is stationary, lives for millennia, is connected to the entire Great Forest, reproduces in an alien way and so on. Elves, on the other hand, are much easier for me to understand. Some types of Elf do not have females and reproduce with Dryads. Others have females and reproduce through mating as normal, but produce a seed. I don't see why they would be any less attached to their offspring than, say, a creature that lays eggs. Once the seed germinates or the egg hatches, the offspring can be cared for and raised like many other creatures. Maybe Elves are raised by the Great Forest, due to their connection with it, that makes some sense, so perhaps they have a more communal upbringing.
  2. Cast Shield 10 and bathe in acid.
  3. Very relevant. Orlanth Aquarius is one of the ways that waves are made. There are a lot of nymphs who were Orlanth's lovers and daughters. Wave-nymphs are just one kind. Orlanth got around and shared his love.
  4. That is a shame, as he is one of my favourite deities. He blusters, makes a lot of noise but is basically a bit useless. He might have a big club and can fly with it, Captain Caveman-style, but he became a Husband-Protector or Ernalda and then gave her up when Orlanth returned. He's a bit of a loser, really.
  5. I don't think so, as Umath was not around for that long. Didn't he push Earth and Sky apart, move in a great spiral to the edges of Glorantha and then get killed by Shargash? Obviously, this was before Death, but he doesn't seem to have done much else, except father a host of deities on many different mothers. Molanni is a bad Air Goddess, the stultifying Still Air, who chokes and smothers people. Brastalos is a good Air Goddess, the Eye of the Storm, the Stillness within Movement, the Centre, whose breath calms the mightiest of storms and whose stillness enables movement around her. Gargarth the Wild Hunter is a son, or grandson, of Vadrus and is powerful in Pent, Prax and the Wastes. He is the whirlwind or tornado, the destructive storm, and is worshipped by bandits and outlaws. Urox, or Storm Bull, is the father of the Minotaurs and Sky Bulls. As you mentioned, he is also the father of many of the Founders and protectoresses of the Nomad tribes. Waha is the Cuklture Hero, but Storm Bull is the Founder. Mammals are definitely associated with Air/Storm. I am not sure who Mother Mammal descends from, though.
  6. In my Glorantha, Entekos was created when Umath rubbed against the Shy Dome and became a buffer between Air and Sky, keeping Umath from polluting the Sky Dome. So, she was created from Umath and Aether Primolt. Doburdan is, I think, Entekos' son, or grandson. Shargash took some Storm Powers when he killed Umath, I think he took Lightning Bolts from Umath's brain. I am not sure what he did with them, but Lightning Boy seems to have been the result, a Storm Spirit raised in the Sky.
  7. Our RQ2 Players prayed for criticals when being sprayed with acid, just so it would ignore their nice shiny iron armour and just burn their flesh a bit.
  8. If it's one plant, then a single Warrior of Wood spell should be enough!
  9. Chalana Arroy used to have the Preserve Herbs spell, very useful to herbalists and maybe alchemists, and the Recognise Healing Plants, or something similar, to enable them to gather healing plants as ingredients. They should certainly be able to make healing potions, poison antidotes, curatives against disease and so on. Quicksilver Mostal is obviously the best cult for Alchemists, as it had a lot of nifty spells. It is only available to Mostali, though. Lhankor Mhy is the best choice, I would think. Does anyone have any idea where the Alchemy rules will appear and how compatible they are with RQ2 Alchemy?
  10. If you have any of those supplements as PDFs, all you need to do is copy the text and paste into a text Editor and the translation appears, as if by magic.
  11. Have they got a Flamethrower or White Phosphorous bombs? Both were used in World War I and should be available to enterprising Investigators with the right connections.
  12. I am of the firm belief that all species descended from grandfather Mortal have a lot in common, emotions being one of those things. So, Elves and Trolls share many human emotions. Grandfather Mortal got jiggy with Aldrya and made the Elves. However, the Dryads and Runners have a different descent and would be more alien. Pixies were made by Shannasse, using left-over magic, to make Aldrya laugh, so would behave differently as well.
  13. Surely, a worshipper of Aldrya is an Aldryami.
  14. Hasn't there always been breeding grounds in the New Fens? I seem to recall reading that many, many years ago. No reason why there can't be more than one. In my recent Gloranthan game, I had a small breeding grounds in the Corflu Delta, for example.
  15. My Glorantha has Orlanth Aquarius, the Wind on the Waters, that part of Orlanth that conquered the Seas and Oceans, who dove deep and fathered merfolk, who provides safe winds for sailors and calms sea-storms. I created it for two reasons, one to find a home for the Orlanth Conquers Water spells/myths and two to annoy one of the players in our RQ2 group who claimed that "Everything is about Orlanth". My version doesn't have sorcery, though.
  16. In my Glorantha, the Vampire Legion is an arm if the Lunar Army and many of its members are Yanafal Tarnils Rune Lords. There is a detachment of Yanafal Tarnils troops permanently stationed with the Vampire Legion, although some are rotated in and out. These, together with other non-combat support personnel, are used as food by the Vampire Legion. When a Yanafal Tarnils Rune Lord from this unit reaches retirement, he has the opportunity to join the Vampire Legion. However, not all of the members of the Vampire Legion are Yanafal Tarnils worshippers, some are straight-up Vivamorti, others are associated with other cults. However, all are Illuminated. My Glorantha does vary, though.
  17. Doesn't matter what else went on, or what other people say, if that was the case then you did it right.
  18. He is "Golden Sage of Heaven", which was a very thinly veiled reference to the Great Sage Equal of Heaven.
  19. In our RQPavis game, anyone who has seen The White Bull and has spent a point of POW automatically becomes part of the White Bull Brotherhood. Their steeds become white when close to another member of the White Bull Brotherhood. One of the PCs was a Zebra Rider and he was very embarrassed at first, in case people thought he was riding a horse. In our game, the White Bull was a very rarely seen spirit of Prax. The PCs united the tribes of Prax by realising that every Tribe had a White Bull Society. They then united the Pure Horse Tribe with Praxians, when they met some HeroQuesting Grazers who re-emerged from the Black Net to refound the Pure Horse Tribe, When the PCs summoned the White Bull against them, some of their horses turned white and they were accepted into the White Bull Brotherhood and showed their kinship with Praxians.
  20. That's a bit harsh, in my opinion. Sure, perhaps there were too many rolls, climbing a wall for a thief should be Easy, so should have a bonus, for example. But, I'd have used Psychology to get past the people on the desk, as that makes sense to how I have played CoC before. Sometimes you get scenarios where just about everything goes wrong. You can react in two ways - Whinge and complain about it all going wrong and having an unfair GM, or react to the things that went wrong and take a different path. It looks as though the players took the second option and reacted to everything that went wrong, trying to turn events to their advantage. If the players and GM had fun then it was not a disaster.
  21. Have a look at http://www.soltakss.com/super1.html, which was my attempt at the same thing.
  22. Borderlands and Cults Compendium. Yes, that's how I'd do it. Flight itself makes you quite fast, but I'd say it isn't very easy to move around, unless you had the Air or Movement Rune. I'd link this to the Runic ability, so people with a low score cannot do many things, whereas people with very high scores can whizz about as though moving normally.
  23. If you want pre-packaged Fantasy, then OpenQuest and Magic World do the job, but neither has Hit Locations, which is a no-no for me, as it isn't D100 if you can't lose a limb. Legend also works as a pre-packaged fantasy system, it is also fairly compatible with Mytras, so you can use Mythras material with it.
  24. Frog Woman has the Leap spell, which is effectively a group Teleport that takes a day, It may be that Great Leap sounds like a better version of that. Orlanthi Teleport comes from Mastakos, not Larnste, maybe Far Step or Far Stride might work.
  25. I think older versions had 3 ENC = 1 SIZ, so you could use that kind of conversion. A SIZ 13 person with 10 ENC has an effective SIZ of 16, so needs Flight 3. If you use 5 ENC = 1 SIZ then the person still needs Flight 3, but has an effective SIZ of 15. One person carrying another just adds the 2 effective SIZ together.
