  1. With any luck, the money from the RQ2 Kickstarter will help provide some stability, so that other projects can go ahead as planned.
  2. I have paid for previous Kickstarters by Paypal, so I would think so. Or maybe not - Just backed it and it is asking for a Credit Card.
  3. It's a problem with writing stats for the different types of bardish professions in Merrie England - Minstrels, Trouveres and Troubadours are subtly different, yet are all similar to the bard. I juggle with the skill allocations and change the traits somewhat, but they are very similar professions. When creating a character, the differences come in what traits and stunts to take as well as how you apply the extra points and characteristic points to skills. Merrie England has some tweaks to create characters of different degrees of experience. Whether Paulo wants to keep them in or not hasn't been decided, as he has neither seen them nor heard about them yet.
  4. Don't forget that many of the Praxian nations have small clans on the Hungry Plateau, not just the Sable Riders. The difference is that the Sable Riders have the Twin Stars, who are intimately connected with their mythology and helped with the Great Sable Conversion. The other nations don't have that Lunar connection, so are sidelined. One of the RQ supplements, can't remember which one, had a Lunar nobleman whose clan owned a herd of bison on the Hungry Plateau. He might even have been a Yelm follower, but my memories fade.
  5. In Revolution D100, STR is relative, so a giant with STR 18 would be stronger than a human with STR 18, but because his Size Class is bigger he can do more with it.
  6. I probably won't play it, as I am a firm fan of RQ3, but will read the new articles and see what they have changed, mainly for ideas.
  7. I remember the French version of Nomad Gods, which was very good, but the French names for counters could be quite confusing. I see towns and names as being language-independent, personally. If something is called Muse Roost does that mean that it's function if the roost of a muse? Probably not, so why translate it? Dragon's Eye or the Crater maybe, but not Nochet.
  8. A lot of things that people say are GodLearnerisms are probably not. For example, after the Dawning, the Theyalans went around to a lot of cultures and spoke to them, awakening some and reinvigorating others. They made a lot of mythical connections, including equating Yelm the Emperor with the Orlanthi Bad Emperor. They also identified many of the Runes. The First and Second Councils did much of the same, but made more sophisticated connections. The God Learners took it a stage further, creating the Monomyth, which is mostly true but very simplified. Then they started saying "What if we did this?" and started to manipulate and change things.
  9. The woolly rhino is in Land of Ice and Stone ...
  10. Genert and Gata got it on quite often, producing the Land Goddesses, who are specialised versions of the earth. In fact, they cover the earth, being the Surface Earth. I don't think that they are all Grain Goddesses and not all Grain Goddess are also Land Goddesses, but they quite often tally. Pelora was the goddess of barley, wasn't she? It's been a while since I checked. Hon Eel is the Grain Goddess for Maize, but she isn't a Land Goddess. Seshna is an interesting one, as she has had a lot of influence from the Kingdom of Logic and subsequent Malkioni, but she is definitely a Land Goddess in my Glorantha.
  11. yeah, but apart from those, the principle holds!
  12. Esrolia is named after Esrola, who is the wife of Lodril in Caladraland, so it might be part of her domain. Most lands named after earth goddesses end is "ia", so Caladraland wouldn't be named after its land goddess.
  13. Any chance of a Gloranthan Classics containing the excellent RQ3 Praxian supplements?
  14. Unfortunately, it is not currently available for BRP, or so I believe/ It will be available for Revolution D100, though.

    Genert's sons

In my Glorantha, yes. Genert's daughters are the land goddesses, but Genert's sons are not really described at all. Are they just manifestations of his power (Earth King, Giant, Father of Many) or are they just demigods?
  16. I'd drop Life as the Earth rune has enough fertility for the cult.
  17. That is excellent news - A "lot" of people missed the Kickstarter and want a copy.
  18. As a Hero, I thought that Tessele was associated with Life/Fertility, after the TwinQuest. Yes, but individually, they clearly have Fire and Earth separately - Caladara shows no earth abilities and Aurelion no fire abilities. When they joined, they gained harmony and it because integral to their cult. They communicate with magical harps, have temples across the seas around Glorantha (Genertela, Pamaltela and Jrustela) and the twin bond is very harmonious in nature. I would give the combined cult Fire, Earth and Harmony, but that breaks the "One element per cult" rule, as should Cragspider (Fire/Darkness) - Rules are meant to be broken. Aurelion's earth rune might have some fertility aspects to it as this is the ash that fertilizes the earth, but his building aspects are stronger (The Breakwater, the volcanic cone).
  19. There is nothing to stop a GM from allowing the players to take a bigger part in the Dragonrise, as supporters or as part of the HeroQuest. You don't have to run the scenario exactly as written.
  20. Aurelion is the builder and has secrets of the earth, so I can see him throwing up walls, knapping obsidian and bringing fertility to the earth. Caladra is the fiery one, hers is the caldera, so I can see her living in the fiery pools of lava, she would control the burning and spear bits of Lodril. Aurelion would have a good relationship with the Deep Earth and the slash and burn farmers. I see Lodril as the earthy sky, the part of Aether that was left behind when Umath separated Gata and Aether. He is the Fire Within, the Erupting Fire, Aether's Fiery Seed. Amongst Lodrili peasants he is the Everyman, the god of the militia, god of farmers, source of the Lowfires, god of spear in hand.
  21. I thought that Caladra and Aurelion had Harmony as one of their runes (Fire/harmony and Earth/Harmony) to counter their father's Disorder. They used harps to communicate between temples, as I recall.
  22. For me, Lodril is one of the phallic gods.
  23. Get the PDFs as well, that way you can get a start before the books actually arrive.
  24. Hmmm, the editor is playing up and won't let me edit my post. It also missed out some of what I have typed in the original post. Damned upgrades! Loz is protective of the RQ6 brand and that's what he should be doing. I would have thought that the RuneQuest forum should be for all versions of RuneQuest, not just the current version, though. Other people publish material and have had a good presence on BRP Central. so a blanket dislike for publishers seems a little unfair.
