  1. That's one reason I only buy PDFs now - Nothing on the bookshelf, nothing coming through the post, no paper invoices and no easy way of finding out that I have bought it.
  2. Face to face, weekly at each others' houses. One of our players plays twice a week, once with us and once with another RQ group.
  3. That's what we have played for Dodge for a long while now. We play that Dodge moves the attack roll down one level for every successful level of Dodge, but only to a failure. So, a Critical Attack vs a normal Dodge reduces the Attack down by one level to a Special, but a critical dodge moves a special attack down by 3 levels to a failure, not a fumble.

  5. I am sure that if you wrote a D100 setting that was roughly compatible with other D100 games, then people would buy it, at least in PDFs.
  6. To be honest, I do not need another D100 rule system. I already have RuneQuest (multiple versions) , Legend, OpenQuest and BRP. I have put off buying Magic World for that very reason. I wouldn't buy Call of Cthulhu for similar reasons, but also because the Mythos bores the pants off me, I have bought the above as PDFs, but mostly to take the good bits and use them in my RuneQuest game. I would probably never run a straight RQ6 or Legend or BRP game, except at a convention. So, no, I personally would not be interested in another D100 game. I might buy the rules as a PDF, to steal from, as above, but that's about it. However, settings are another thing entirely. If you produced an Alternate Earth setting for a D100 game, even if it was for your own D100 game, then I would probably buy it. The setting should be easy enough to convert to the game that I play and should give me ideas. That is why I have bought PDFs for Dark Ages Cthulhu, Roman Cthulhu and OpenQuest.

Unfortunately, the demon summoning did not reach Bashkortostan, the wind must have stopped at the Steppes and not skipped over the few hundred miles to the north, perhaps the torrential rain stopped it. I have no preference to how it is published. Gianni did ask first, so if he'd like to keep it in the fanzine, then so be it. I'll drop him an email and see what he says.

  9. I just use the New Content page as my shortcut, then press the First Unread Post link (The dot or star to the left of the entry) to go to the first unread post. It works for me.

  12. Classic Fantasy handles levels and is a BRP Supplement. It is being re-released for RQ6, but should still be compatible.

  15. Don't forget that you also add the skill bonus to that. Most PCs will have a positive bonus. Also, very few PCs start at the very base skill, these days, most have some sort of previous experience.
  16. Both cover similar ground, but from slightly different angles. Mythic Iceland covers Iceland in more detail and has a lot of information on the Western Lands in North America, but covers Scandinavia and the British isles in about the same level of detail as Vikings of Legend. Character generation is similar, as Vikings are Vikings, but Mythic Iceland has a bit of flavour that Vikings of Legend doesn't. As for magic, Vikings of Legend covers Runes and other magic in a comprehensive way, but does not give powers to deities. Mythic Iceland also covers Runes in a comprehensive way, but gives powers to deities, Both detail the magical races of elves and dwarves, both have stats for mundane and magical creatures, both have stats for Viking ships, bith have descriptions of the culture and of how Viking law is implemented, both cover the Eddas and Myths of the Vikings. Mythic Iceland has some detailed locations, with scenario seeds and myths. Vikings of Legend has a number of scenario seeds. Mythic Iceland has some full scenarios. Mythic Iceland also has a section on Cthulhu, which isn't to my taste, but might be good for people who want to use the Cthulhu Mythos with BRP. So, which is better? They are about the same, really. I marginally prefer the Legend system over BRP, but use a lot from both in my games. I just about prefer Vikings of Legend, but it is a very close call. If you don't mind using PDFs, I would suggest buying both as PDFs and using them both in your setting.

  18. I have added the Pirates & Dragons range to the RQ Alternate Earth Supplements page - This is truly the Golden Age for RQ Alternate Earth!
  19. Yes, most of the setting books for Basic Roleplaying (BRP) do not contain the core rules, as they are designed to be used with the rules. The Quickstart rules should be fine for most things. If you need extra rules for things, then the BRP Rulebook is worth getting. If you don't mind converting some rules, then Legend and RQ6 are similar enough to use with other BRP Supplements.
  20. Looks interesting - It would be good to get a map of the Spanish forts as opposed to the English colonies of Roanoake and Jamestown, just to see how close they were to each other, especially if the Spanish survive and thrive in a campaign.
