  1. pleaaaase don't ask too many pictures 😛 want to have the books !
  2. I agree with a lot of yours points but in my glorantha, she stays 🙂 : yes as a good Ernaldan I would say she must stay to take care of her (family's) children so true, men are so weak, "shut up, bring back food and don't be drunk, minus !"
  3. if size 2 (and there are size 2 shadowcat), that's for me perfectly raw the only point, in my opinion, is to not confuse "awakened shadowcat" with "allied spirit in a shadowcat" you've got a sentient beast not a spirit sent by your god
  4. SORCERER from my perspective we have to keep in mind that sorcery is a set of technics known and used by different people with different goals the biggest part, for me, of sorcery users are "spiritual community leaders" (zzaburi, invisible god, etc...) exactly like most shamans and priests "Sorcerers" - if I understand the term as those who use sorcery for mundane effects only , without any community and religious purpose - are very few. I am even not so sure than LM sorcery users are "sorcerers" : they use sorcery (at least the LM spells) to find knowledge and truth, so for religous purpose. If they use other spells.. they may have to be "judge" by their peers Then what could be a "meldek" ? Sorcery user ? not sure, LM are not meldek, Are zzaburi meldek or priests of the strange invisible god ? For me, "meldek" is sorcerer. From a Orlanthi (maybe a smart one, I agree) Zzaburi prey their god and obtain magic from it as priests prey Orlanth and obtain magic from him. That doesn't mean they are welcomed / trusted / accepted, Lunar priests are priests but priest status is not enough. FAMILIAR I don't know why there is no rule about familiar. Does that mean the familiar notion will not exist anymore in RQG ? but if I had to define what is a familiar, I have three assumptions : 1) familiars have their own identity (maybe soul ?). They decide by themselves, they have loyalties to their creator of course but they are not their creator. Such familiars are like allied spirits. Then... how to create them ? Is sorcery, manipulation of runes, able to "create" soul or at least consciousness ? If yes, easy, learn the "create familiar with identity" spell, and do it. Your familiar is a pure and full creation.. You may feel you are a god now If no, easy, learn the "create familiar with identity" spell, capture a spirit, and do it. Your familiar is the merge between the physical form you created and the spirit 2) familiars are the creators extension. They are like the shaman fetch. Then... what if the familiar is killed ? Does the creator die ? Yes ? familiars and creator share the same soul. Familiars are just "other bodies" easy, learn the "create familiar sharing my soul" spell, and do it. No ? familiars gain a part of creator soul (better then to have 7 souls than 6) easy, learn the "create familiar sharing my soul" spell, split (sacrifice) your POW and INT to your new familiar 3) familiar are the creator's beasts. They are like your dog or your horse (not awakened). Consider it as golem or other automaton obeying your simple orders and that's all easy, learn the "create a automaton familiar", and do it.
  5. personaly I think that rqg (or any role playing game in fact) is totally game balanced... a cult, or an occupation may be les powerful than another, but it is not a game balance issue. (except one shot adventure) any player can choose any role / cult / occupation / ... it is their choice the true issue is gm may be unbalanced. Some GM will be able to give enough satisfaction to all the table, whatever the characters are "balanced" or not when other will be unable (not a judgment, people have different weakness, that's life and diversity.) but I agree, if you're not enough confident in both your capacity to play and maximize with your imagination your character* effectiveness and your gm's ability to manage everything well, yes, be prudent and choose a more "standard" archetype, learn from others, experiment some eccentricity and have fun. And maybe, next character, you will find a way you have not yet seen, and what you knew as eccentrity may become your next pleasant standard of play * I m clearly unable to play a Ty Kora Tek priestess but have no issue to play a yinkini. Before the white bull campaign, I was even unable to imagine playable a Ty Kora Teki... so that is not the person you are, that's the "matching" between you and a character type
  6. If Barntar is seen as a cult, I would say that men dedicated to the lands ( farmer, herder, ...) will follow Barntar when the rest, higher social classes, bloodline leaders, warriors, ... crafters ? would follow Orlanth when not an exotic one (Issaries, LM, such exotism ... 😛 ) More difficult to me with the grain goddess The only option I imagine would be there is in this clan a particular grain providing wealth and only source of some typical "industry" (maybe a specific beer, some cloth, etc) then some women will be dedicated to this goddess so important localy, when other will follow Ernalda herself (from any social classes) but I have the same difficulties than you, it is just a thought among others
  7. there are a lot of oaths, blessings, etc. for me the big difference between (Humakt, Yelmalio , Thanatar) and the others is their worshippers must and have clear paths, to obtain gift/geas. But why Ernalda will not give you the opportunity to have twins once you succeed to save Voria ? Why Yelm is not able to offer you a permanent fireblade after killing three dehori and swearing you will hunt the winter everywhere ?
  8. big issue if he is a star bear, sandals should not be enough
  9. she may be "washed" for diseases and taints but what she did stays so there are different perspective - her victims, or communities she "attacked" keep in memory what she did. They may want revenge (or at least justice => death ?) - her goddess Malia may be unhappy.. the priestess is not anymore qualified to be priestess. However, if she is illuminate (I don't remember) she would probably have a lot of problems - her broos may consider she betrayed them. They may want revenge - herself : she was a powerful priestess, gang boss. What now ? what will be her future ? she is cured but... is she still angry against humanity ? what about her story, her victims ? is she hating herself for so many deeds or is she hating the pcs because she has less powers and wants to continue her activity ?
  10. you have an example in sun county supplement for me the answer depends on some questions is temple abandonned by its deity or only by worshippers ? who (mundane people) did stay when the leaders decided to leave the temple ? why did they leave ? who (mundane people) did visited the temple before pcs after the abandonment ? If the deity abandonned the temple, it means for me that you will not find any cult spirits They left, following their god. (at least no spirits with INT,but you may find some forgotten spirits, like elementals, those who were not able to understand). However if the reason is ennemies succeed to invade the temple, it may have some cult spirits captured, cursed, or anything, who had to stay. If the deity did not abandon the temple, maybe some cults spirits were asked to stay, waiting for some mundane worshippers (or allied) to "relaunch" the temple. But after so many years... are these spirits still devoted to their deity and follow theirs orders, or now, they stay but will do some bad tricks to pc ? But that's for the cult spirits. In a temple you may find others people or spirits, Priests, Runelords, Initiates, servants, slaves, bounded spirits, prisonners, etc.. Some people did not flee, maybe they decided, maybe they were unable.. And now...they are dead (for the mortal) and some maybe are still here, as ghost or anything (and of course the spirits). Are they happy to meet the pc ? Are they mad after so many years abandonned by both their cult and their divinity, and not able to have a "good" after life ? Are they still devoted, if they were ? And maybe some thieves, or scholars, or just curious people.... tried to plunder / visit the temple... maybe they met some ghosts or spirits or guardians... maybe their death is not really satisfying... and they are still here, as others in all cases if pc want to be "welcomed" (by those who are still devoted, not everyone) I would say they must lead a worship ceremony during a holy day, and sacrifice enough (depending on the deity, the temple size, the "still here people" to satisfy, the duration of the abandon, ....) Then maybe propose some pact -oath, geas, ...- with the divinity, or with the potential guardians (part of the residents) to allow them: - to reactivate the temple (need some regalia, artifacts, crafters, ....) - to take religiously any sacred item they may find (aka plunder your own cult) - to free the residents (need magic points, runepoints, or power sacrifice, any item they must find elsewhere for some specific spirit) - to "capture" the residents (need magic point, runepoints, or power sacrifice, "good" craft to welcome the most "noble" spirits,... )
  11. why propritiated and not just worshipped ? Do people consider her as a bad goddess ? (or maybe my understanding of propitiatory is wrong)
  12. I see Yinkini as a mix of lone people walking in the wild working for themselves and not for the community, if they have no personal interest but able of great deeds when the community (or some members) are in big trouble of course, looking for the wife / husband of anyone if they are thieves, that only to eat, not to amass wealth but at the end of the day... happy to watch the stars, in the quiet night, happy to run with cats and other shadows, happy to meet others when they want to meet others, not when others want to meet them you can trust them if it is important, but you know that "important" is what they consider, not what you consider.
  13. foundchild seems to me a better hunter cult than Orlanth or I miss something in all cases if you want to play a powerful hunter and you consider the best choice is to be a Orlanthi Hunter, just do it, there is no problem but I m pretty sure that an eurmali hunter is more efficient than a orlanthi one, so if you look for power gaming follow eurmal (same advice for any occupation except scribe and honest crafter)
  14. Or just use draw beast with some cage ?
  15. I have a smarter (?) don’t play the only bird in glorantha unable … to sing nicely
  16. mm I m not sure of the english sense of demi (if there is ?)... but in french "demi" means "half" so from my perspective, demibirds could be "demidragonewt" or those who failed so much than their eggs broken for ever and were born like any beast (after all, same rune or about, isn't it ?) Of course far from the dragonewt cycle, the actual demibirds are not the original "broken" dragonewts but their progeny, with a bird life cycle or just the 0 level (or even -1 level) of dragonewt ? But i prefer the first option, "just" beasts. When human beings have herdmen, Dragonewts have herd-dragonewt then maybe demi = herd in auld wyrmish ? 😛
  17. as a player, do you want to be a sniper ? choose a god and an occupation able to provide sniper abilities. Should all hunters kill their preys with missile weapons ? Should all gods participating in the great hunt be good snipers ? Should even these participants be dedicated to hunt ? In the previous version I had, Odayla didn't exist. Oh yes there was a name, there was a cult, but this cult was exactly the same than foundchild (from a gameplay perspective). Now we have a different Odayla. We don't lose the hunter god (now "only" named foundchild) but we have a half wild half barbarian god called Odayla with other powers than full human hunters look for.. A god able to destroy with brutality any close ennemy or prey or predator, able to cut a tree with his hands or to open a door, or even a thin wall, without any tool. And that's the same with Yinkin. Is Yinkin a hunter ? no he is a beast. A beast able to hunt with his own abilities (from a hide, ambushing) , able to seduce, able to "visit" places when he is not welcome. so yes hunters pc have a god to help them to become distant killers. This god is Foundchild. If players want to play more exotic character, they can choose other options. And that's the same with any occupation.
  18. as probably any people will be heal by some magic a lot of times during their life, I would say that, even if it is, it would not be any impact. Of course, when/if magic disappears...
  19. however... I would have trouble to see any bear or cat using a bow to hunt 😛 Draw beast may be arguable but I consider that the true - power is to cheat/charm/lie : when beasts cheat men everyone knows that is a cheat - morokanth power - why not the reverse ? I would probably accept that some spirit society based on serpent (Kaa power...sssssss) or friend provides the spell. But for me, Bear is too strong and Cat too mischievous (if little) or too strong (if big) to not be considered as dangerous by any prey.
  20. Tell your player (s)he is not alone except that my French word was 5 letters 😛
  21. Oh I notice that I answer about summon spell not command. For me there is nobly one command spell as other said 🙂
  22. For your first question if you want any spell you have to sacrifice 1pow of course if your rune pool is not large enough you will not be able to cast the spell (Ex: 1 pow to learn / 3RP to cast) for the summon I consider 3 different spells but I m less sure than for my first answer
  23. but... is it really meaningful to know who is superhero or hero ? from my perspective, what the glorantha people think is more "is it a god or a hero more powerful than those I know ?" what rqg gamers needs is more what are the powers I can use and how someone can gain them ? (so not a binary point on my left hero, on my right super hero) Is there a significant difference, from a background perspective or a gameplay perspective ? I really don't know (well maybe because I never saw any difference
  24. are you demonstrating Ethilrist is a yelmalio runemaster ?
  25. I would not use a damage bonus for some "mechanical" (?) weapon. I prefer to say : this weapon needs min dex and min str to be used at its maximal power. This power is what rules say. however you may find an "upgraded" weapon (stronger wood for bow, even metal bow, why not) and this weapon will provide more damage of course any "level" of weapon requires more dex and str than the previous one so yes if you are strong enough (strong = STR, or some runic ability or what you want) to use this legendary bow you will deliver 3d6 damage so it is about the same effect than including DB but it seems to me more epic (noone can use this bow except you because noone is as powerful as you, so you are a "hero").
