Magazines that featured RuneQuest 2nd edition material

So, besides Different Worlds, Dragon, White Dwarf, and Wyrm's Footprints, were there any gaming magazines that featured content for RQ2? Those are the only ones I can find/have read about (I can't find Wyrm's Footprints at all...wish that were getting reprinted!).

Note that I'm not looking for Glorantha material specifically (like a Con pamphlet or something), more articles and adventures if any exist out there.

It's by @Hyperlexic, many magazines are listed.

There are still copies of Wyrm's footprints around, with the best articles.

So many things I don't have and haven't heard of.

In addition to this, Tadashi Ehara is still selling Different Worlds.

Not as PDFs though, which is a crying shame.

Considering when they were produced, I'm not surprised. The plates for these were probably destroyed after each print run. What is amazing is how much Chaosium printed of each of these. These are still the original print runs.

Different Worlds basically predated modern desktop publishing. All the early issues were done by cutting and pasting printed text onto two page spreads of cardstock, which were then camera ready for the printer to make film plates for printing. The last issue was produced in 1987. Chaosium did the layout on the first 30 or so issues before Tadashi left Chaosium and struck out on his own, mainly taking the assets related to DW with him. We have a number of the early cut and paste layouts in the archives, but nothing for Different Worlds.

While Tadashi owns the Different Worlds magazine, including all of the back stock, anything Gloranthan related was not transferred to him as part of his departure deal. Chaosium retained those rights back in the day, so releasing the magazine as PDFs would require a deal between Moon Design and Different Worlds. Such a deal has never been discussed as far as I know.

Not to mention, a ton of effort for (what I believe) is a single individual, for little to no gain, and probably a loss.

After all, how do you make a small fortune in RPG's? 😉

So looking at this, I also noticed an Alarums and Excusions issue that supposedly deals with RQ2 Sorcery?!? Issue 106? Anyone know anything about that?

Also, where can you get Wyrm's Footprint issues?

I have some French magazines called Tatou dating back from 1992 to 1994 (for those issues I have, #10 to #20). It contains RuneQuest, Stormbringer, Elric, and Pendragon material among other things.

That was RQ3 material though. The OP was wondering about RQ2 material.

Wyrm's Footprints

As all this stuff is new to you and old to a lot of us here's a brief run down:

Quote

Here's the intro the WFP:

Welcome to Wynns Footprints magazine, a reprint of the articles from the late and much lamented Wyrm's Footnotes.

Wyrm's Footnotes was originally published by Greg Stafford to support his White Bear and Red Moon boardgame, and only later became a RuneQuest magazine.

...

There were fourteen issues of Wynns Footnotes produced from 1976 to 1982. Seven of the first eight issues were edited by Greg Stafford, #3 was edited by Tadashi Ehara, and the last six by Charlie Krank. Some articles from early Wyrm's Footnotes were also reprinted in the RuneQuest Companion published by the Chaosium in 1983.

The reprinted articles in this volulne are substantially unchanged from the originals. Where possible we have annotated any major contradictions with subsequent published works, or more recent Gloranthan investigations. Some articles have been expanded to include portions that, for various reasons, were not included in the original. Lastly, we have also presented a number of fragments of hitherto unpublished information.

Enuft Enjoy!

Tales of the Reaching Moon

From shannon's site:

Tales of the Reaching Moon #1-18. Missing #19-20.

1989-2003. In the Summer of 1989, David Hall, Brian Duguid and Matthew Tudor published the first issue of the British RQ fanzine, Tales of the Reaching Moon. It was clearly a fanzine, somewhat amateur, but full of lots of fun Gloranthan material. The layout and content of Tales of the Reaching Moon improved after issue one, and shortly it became an international magazine. Issue 4 was produced in Australia, and currently ToTRM is easily available in all of Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and the US. The later issues of Tales of the Reaching Moon are of very high quality. Starting with issue #12, ToTRM has been covered with beautiful full-color artwork. Tales came to a planned end with #20, after an amazingly lengthy run for a fan publication.

I realise it's all RQ3 though.

It also depends on if you are talking about specific magazines only or also including fanzines, as a many of the latter included articles and game content.

Also whether you are asking specifically about RQ2 only or also including RQ3. If the latter, there was also AH's Heroes which ran to 10 issues.

Most of Runes (a french prozine from 83 to 85) issues contained RQ2 articles or scenari. Most of Runes people later went to Casus Belli, another french magazine that featured quite a number of RQ elements (most of them RQIII).

Quest (a french magazine) contained something RQ (RQ3 if I remember) in ALL it's issues. It even had a duck as a mascot.

Nope, anything out there that is obtainable (preferably in pdf) is of interest to me. And yes, I'm mostly looking for RQ2 right now.

Pdf likely rare or non-existent for anything RQ2 (unless like the RQ2 Classic that it's been scanned and digitally rendered).

Tradetalk has a wide range of articles and is available in pdf at: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/2629/RuneQuest-Gesellschaft-eV

Also the D101 material including Hearts in Glorantha and Glorantha Adventures at: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/3240/D101-Games/subcategory/5545_9773/Hearts-in-Glorantha

A&E #106 had part 1 (three pages) of the Ritual Abandonment Sorcery article by Tim Walters. He doesn't seem to have ever finished it.
