  1. Wasn't it Vareena Cow-eye's Flower Bison getting tails of herd beasts (for EIritha burial) in trade from Redwood elves after Biturian Varosh gave them Narl Flowers at a wedding.
  2. If you wanted the half-moon days to look more halfling, then you might have to go all the way down to 2/7 Red 5/7 black, which is perhaps a bit too far.
  3. I think uniformly rotating moon may fit the day-names a little better if it's 3/7 red and 4/7 black...
  4. So what happens for a lunar spell caster on one of the radial lines? does their Full Moon phase run from noon until noon instead of midnight until midnight? or does it snap to a one midnight-midnight day or the other? In the image below if the top row is a phase at noon, the bottom row is how it looks at midnight. Assuming that the moon is half red half black and turns at a constant rate...
  5. It could also be the neck-wear that the nomads decorate their favourite mounts with....
  6. Hence their name (Dictionary.com): verb (used without object), boloed, boloing. 2. to fail to meet the minimum standards of marksmanship. OriginExpand 1915-20; said to be after Bolo Pascha (died 1918), German agent inFrance during World War I
  7. Is the Yu-Kargzant / Hyalor Pentian pantheon on the Painted Wall as well as the Waha Praxian pantheon? Or are they too Solar to be hanging out with Genert? Is the Painted Wall less hierarchical than the Gods' Wall? because A) it's green age not Golden Age, B ) it's been more Chaosed. If someone tags over, (or too near) part of an image on the Painted Wall is there always spirit combat between any POW still resident in the old image and the would be painter or his would-be-image-POW? Or is there scope for some sort or deal where a big sponsor image gets a tithe of the POW in a small new non-hostile glyph and gives it house room.
  8. Some items on the wall are painted in historical times with real pigments by mortal hands, but what about the long-lasting 'Pre-waste' era images? The Gods' Wall lasts because it is stamped into very hard rock. Are the colours in the god-time images ingrained thought the rock? (If the face flakes off the colour is still there in the new surface?) Or does the paint protect the cliff that it is on? If so what about the unpainted spaces between the figures?
  9. The orange hexagonal tiles are the corrals. Most players (tribes) have 2. Once they are corralled, cows are safe, but you can only use the corral once. You have to decide when you have enough cows to make it worth expending your corral opportunity.
  10. Giants' tear is fluorescent, it glows just after the sun has entered the gates of dusk, some tears glow noticeably even under starlight or moonlight. You'll have to ask the giants why this is so. Some say that giants themselves (or at least their sweat) glows in starlight, which is what helped them see each other during the darkness. Certain SunHawk shamans can use giants' tear fetishes to store light and draw on them to increase the intensity or duration of their light magics
  11. Giant's Tears Description: A transparent amber gem-like substance Knowledge: Trolls, Praxians Cults: Friendly Sky Gazers Society History: Traders sometimes acquire quantities of Giant's Tear in blocks or droplets, but in Human lands it is more often seen worked into decorative items or totems for Praxian light cutists. Trolls value it highly as a seasoning ingredient, paying many times more than its 'decorative' value amongst humans. Some traders have speculated that trolls use it to help favoured trollkin grow to near normal troll stature but this is probably a fanciful human notion arising from the name. The 'tears' are in fact Giant's ear wax, so humans may be inclined to disbelieve that trolls are attracted to the taste. Procedure: Rare. In raw from ask a giant if he has cleaned his ears our recently. In cities, curio shops may have jewellery incorporating Giant's tear. In the Praxian lands Solar cultists pass down sunlight fetishes through the Skygazers Society Powers: Giant's tear is never cold to the touch. Sun Hawk shamans use it to enhance their ceremonial magic. Giant's Tears can not be used a crystals for POW / spirit storage Value: 200L for a fist sized lump of raw tear, 300L for a worked piece one third that size.
  12. Raiders of the Cursed Archive... Maybe work in how some fragment of knowledge from the red book gave Nabuzel the juice to get an audience with Moonson before any two-faced backstabbing courtiers stole his discovery from him. Perhaps he tracked down his first artefact on his own and attuned it himself.
  13. You can raid clans of your own tribe for mounts and breeding stock as well as dinner-on-the-hoof. I would think it would be common amongst the major tribes, but uncommon amongst the minor tribes (because it's hard to find the other ostrich clan, or either of the other Bolo-Lizard clans, but easier to find another Impala clan).
  14. I had a go at New Pavis and Real City at about 1 pip to 10m, I'm thinking of trying New Pavis at 1 pip to 4m which might make the pitched roofs and alleys a little more manageable. Appropriately, Sun Town being on a different grid is a royal pain in the arse. I might need to think more about the slope of the land this time. In the first one, I just put in a two plate rise on the skew for Rich Hill, but I assume that the land slopes down from founders market to Dorasar's walls and up from there to New Pavis Temple and Rich Hill. I'm going to need some more bricks...
  15. Most 3D impressions are nicer looking than 2D ones (especially when they are populated), it makes burgling Raus' house a different experience though.
  16. No 3 story pitched roofs on the old Parade Way plans compared to the artist's impression.
  17. It was also demoed at Spiel 2016 in Essen. With the added bonuses for me of catching up with Andrew whom I hadn't seen for about 20 years and Richard, and randomly picking the tribe of a character that I'm currently playing online...
  18. It's an interesting idea, certainly Raus is qualified to fill a role of military defender of a far-flung province. He might have been something like a late Roman Dux at one time in his career, but I don't think he is just after Moonbroth when the Grantlands are being carpet-bagged. I think if his title was a command position rather than a mark of descent it would come with military units, and as far as I remember the Marble Phalanx, Silver shields and Antelope Lancers report to the Count of Prax (which is a recent civil/military creation that still has clearly defined duties and responsibilities). Duke of Rone has always sounded vaguer to me than Count of Prax. I think Ronegarth is named after the Duke of Rone and that Rone itself is/was somewhere else. Although some Dukedoms recognise territories where people feel a strong sense of common identity and can survive with a significant amount of power for centuries, others decline due to economic or strategic realignment, or to court intrigue. Rone may be split between several other estates/terrirories by now, or even is a rump of it still exists it may be a less significant location than would be expected for someone who was being newly made a duke as a reward for recent services to the empire.
  19. He's Duke Raus of Rone isn't he? like Henry Beaufort Duke of Somerset or Henry Somerset Duke of Beaufort, Rone is his estate/inheritance/dignity as a Duke, Raus is the family from which he comes. If he really annoys Moonson, the Dukedom could be taken off him and given to a more pliable member of his family, or to a different family entirely.
  20. Goldentoe's Cane Description: A walking stick for the maimed. it has a gold ferrule at the base but appears otherwise unremarkable. Knowledge: Known primarily to Solar cults and traders Cults: ASSOCIATED Lokarnos. FRIENDLY Yelmalio, Issaries. UNFRIENDLY Etyries, Zorak Zoran History: A caravan leader from Vanch, Leros Vibio had been a devoted follower of Lokarnos for many years when he lost a leg during an unexpected encounter near the Hill of Gold. Procedure: Very rare. They shall result from a HeroQuest providing aid to Yelmalio and his cult (possibly also to Yelorna). Their powers are not lost on the death or apotheosis of the original quester. A few examples are known and tracked by the Lokarnos cult, some others have disappeared and may be unrecognised. They are however not susceptible to natural decay over time. Powers: On grasping the cane (providing he sun is in the sky even if not visible) the user instantly gains the use of a magical leg in replacement of a severed leg. The leg persists until sundown and during that time the user is unable to release his grip on the cane. If the cane is prized away from him he will sustain 1d6 damage to that arm and will lose the use of the magical leg (though the substance of the leg remains until sundown). The cane can only be used once in a day, so a stolen cane is ineffective until the following sunrise. If the users other leg is sound, then the magical leg is lame, and vice versa. The toe of the boot on the magical leg appears to be made of gold. the boot cannot be removed from the leg and any attempt to cut the toe from the leg results in 1d10 general HP damage. Value: 25,000L (in Wheels).
  21. I don't have a problem with there being wagons on the Transpentan Caravan, but since they seem to complicate the logistics maybe it would be worth coming up with a list of advantages over pack-horse transport. This isn't a great list but somebody might improve it. potential to carry a single item too heavy for a single horse potential to use some wagon-beds as boats at river crossings as mentioned by the OP on this page potential to carry additional low density loads over short distances more efficiently (such as fodder into inhospitable areas) covered wagon offers some protection from the elements when halted, without pitching/striking camp possibly less injurious to the draught animals than pack saddles over a long journey. if Yelm does it every day, there must be something in it
  22. When I Googled this a while ago it seemed that there was not much difference between weight conveyed per draft animal using wagon-and-four and pack-animal. Mongol bows were laminate with the main part being made from bamboo (which the Pentans will remind us is a sort of grass), sinew and horn, held together with animal based glue.
  23. "Lord Pavis knew my father, my father knew Lord Pavis" I think somewhere I read that he helped Gerak Kag's mother avoid birthing trolkin* but more in a consulant capacity. * possibly in TradeTalk the magazine
