  1. The last time RQ was available as a supported product it was 2nd to DnD in most markets and neck and neck in some European markets. This was the 90s... The marketing was good to excellent and as you say, it was more to the taste of those seeking a better and richer experience. Now in fairness the DnD system has improved a lot since then. Ah! Now this is the wunderkind of Chaosium products and with the disappearance of RQ for a couple of decades has assumed its mantle of mightiness. I think a little marketing and word of mouth and maybe a couple of large breaks as you suggest from big names and I think RQ will be back where it was before the AH vs Chaosium implosion of the 90s. WOW!!!!
  2. May I suggest Manage Campsite? Hi, Steven. If I may make an observation or two... But first let me say thanks for your hard work as my opening observation! Singing should be available to clans as well, even wolves sing at night when the moon is full. I would think primitive man would sing, well see the notes below... Why would a citadel dweller be a better dancer? One could say more civilized perhaps, but better? Cheers
  3. I have seen some good treatises about how drought and subsequent famine (possibly caused by climate change) forced Europeans (from the Italian peninsula and some parts of the Balkans and the Hellenic peninsula) who had served as mercenaries in the eastern Mediterranean wars out of their homelands and into taking a place in their former bosses' territories. These fine warriors did not come alone but were joined by their tribes as well. This tended to increase the pressure of already occurring disasters in these lands... Add to that the sea people, who may well have faced the same climate disasters as the former mercenaries and toss in the advent of iron weapons and the collapse was just waiting to happen. Situations that we that we now call A Perfect Storm.
  4. It's mine! Thanks Tindalos!... Bit disappointed to find that by paying full price I was labeled as paying above the average... especially seeing as 75% of the price of this puppy goes to good charities! Looks great, and will be a great assist to my games! I look forward to giving this a read! Yep
  5. Not that I am trying to score points on you... just I thought I might be wrong there... ergo let's ask and find out.
  6. Not sure I understand good sir. A medium shield and a broad sword*, these are almost the default for a bog standard Orlanthi, both have 12 HP. What would the difference in breakage (other than cost) be? *assuming this is what you were referring to, let me know otherwise Cheers You missed this, @PhilHibbs. Apologies for being obtuse, but I love your points and I am afraid I don't get this one.
  7. Great troll twins as Enlo... this is my fave!
  8. Yep there it is,Genertela Book page 42... Balazar: Blank! Forgot about that entirely... (or erased the horror of it from my mind, more likely). The forward in Griffin Island explained it by removing Griffin Mountain from canon and putting into the more generic setting Jaquays and Kraft originally planned for it...

  10. Thanks for the confirmation Phil. So, there are (at least) two schools of thought on this. The first says this is a great thing as it makes combat easier and faster with less rules and the other bemoans the loss of grittiness in combat tactics. I am on the fence here. I love simplicity, but realism, I find, is simpler... Oh what to do?
  11. Just having a conversation in Discord on a similar topic, so with rules fresh in mind, I will say I believe the answer is, this is not in the rules. You would need a home rule for that
  12. It sounds to me like your GM was making the best use of the tools-at-hand that he had!
  13. I give the players an experience tick for the first fumble. I can't recall which iteration of RQ I got this from or perhaps it is a home rule but I have been doing it forever. I do like your idea and intend to add it to this one.
  14. Bwhahahahahahahahahahahaha... <cough, cough>... Sorry, had something vaguely frog-like in my throat. Brilliant, simply brilliant!
  15. I have a bit of a rep for humour* (who knew?), but with humour there is a fine line twixt snark and a well needed belly laugh... Good luck in navigating it (we all need belly laughs), but if unsure, please err on the side of the obvious joke! In type it will be less easy to take offence. *well at least I think I do🙂
  16. Just watching this and finding it thought provoking. I realize that a lot of this is on iron age mapping and later (it does of course start with sumerian maps... stone ones for those who hate to fold road maps), and that would be because most of the early mapping has not survived to this day, or were oral traditions, but I think it might still have interest for many here.
  17. Damn. I thought you had that up so fast... well, 'cause ya was just that good! Although I could not figure out how you changed the dates to reflect real world times of play...
  18. Ah, actually, even if it does work miracles, never mind making text selection and searching better... it will not work for me. It costs 104 canuck bucks... each and every year you use it. WOWSERS! This is a professional solution for someone with a pro needs and/or either a lot of spare bucks or customers that will help pay for the subscription. Sorry folk, at this point I will bow out of testing this puppy.
  19. Bought it last year and I am thoroughly amazed at how good it is!
  20. Well, it looks like this will work quite well for you svennson. And us as well, thanks for the read.
