  1. Interesting article. I think I was most excited about the link to Blade Runner 2 that popped up. I didn't know. Cant wait.
  2. This has been talked about for a day now. Is it out yet? If not, lets get crackin. I want it!!! Rod
  3. If you just want to get it published and not have to spend anything in the process, talk to Chaosium about going the Monograph route. It would be sold in both PDF and dead tree versions through their website and online stores like RPGNOW and Drive Through RPG. Plus, you don't have to worry about distribution, print runs, etc. You won't become rich doing it that way, but it gets your foot in the door so to speak, and you can make a little money in the process. Plus you still retain the rights to your book if you decide to do something else with it down the road. Rod "Been There, Done That" Leary
  4. Hey Mikuel, Its coming along and making great progress. Just adding a last minute chapter and filling in the rest of the book with monsters, spells, and magic items until I run out of room or Loz and Pete make me stop. ;-) That's really all I have for now, sorry. It should be turned in soon, with soon being a relative term. Thanks for your interest. Rod
  5. I have been following this myself as I have many fond memories of Ultima Underworld. It was one of, if not the first "dungeon crawl" that truly felt three dimensional. I remember coming to a crevasse and looking up and seeing an opening in the opposite wall about eight feet above me. That's something that is easily taken for granted today but was truly amazing for its time. Rod
  6. But if they do, they can only use it in one episode adventure and never mention it again. ;-)
  7. Too busy to clean out my in-box right now. Just send me an e-mail at... threedeesix -at- metrocast -dot- net Rod Edit: In-box has been emptied for those that give a damn. ;-)
  8. If you still need a copy drop me a private message with your e-mail and I'll send you one. Rod
  9. If you guys still need a copy drop me a private message with your e-mails and I'll send you one. Rod
  10. Classic Fantasy make use of the "Magic" system from Basic Roleplaying. I'm not sure how much if any of that is in the BRP Quick Start as I don't have it handy. As for the rest, I would think you could make do with just the Quickstart as I tried to make character creation pretty intuitive. Rod
  11. Hey Chris, let me know when you have a CMDR name and I'll add you to my Friend List. I don't really have much in the way of time right now, but hopefully after this month is over I can play a couple times a week anyway. Rod
  12. I just received my copy of Hessaret's Treasure on Saturday. The quality is what I would expect from any other print book. The cover is thick and doesn't appear that it would be prone to warping like some of the earlier books I ordered years ago. Heck, I would go so far as to say that its better than some game books that I purchased that went with normal printing methods. The binding is tight, and the interior art is sharp and crisp. If anyone is having second thoughts on purchases through Lulu, I would recommend them based on this purchase. Thanks Loz and Pete for going this route, I want all my books in print if possible, and while I did purchase it in PDF previously, I was bummed that (at the time), I didn't think I would have a dead tree version. So while another tree may have given its life in the pursuit of gaming, it was not given in vain. Rod
  13. I second the nomination for Atgxtg, the king of vehicles, who's name should come with a pronunciation guide.
  14. Hey Clarence, As much as I want to contribute I don't have the time unfortunately. However, I REALLY look forward to reading this when you get it finished. Best of luck with it, Rod
  15. Hey Darkholm, I'm in the process of finishing it up. I have a few more monsters and spells to add but it is essentially finished, "feature complete" as they say in the video game industry. I "hope" to turn it in before the end of the month. At that point I will await feedback from TDM on what additional changes may be required. If all is well, then it comes down to whatever time is required for edit and layout. Plus I know some art still needs to be commissioned as well. So that's the progress report on my end. Rod
  16. I would love to see a conversion of the Micronauts comics by Marvel from the late 1970s and early 1980s. I did my own conversion of a few of the most common characters, but only scratched the surface. I loved that comic. Rod
  17. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all fellow gamers and their families. Be safe. Rod
  18. We are now friends. See you in the void Commander.
  19. Its pretty awesome, the entire galaxy done at one-to-one scale. The graphics and sound design are unbelievable. What I'm looking forward to the most is the planned expansions that will allow planetary landings, EVA, walking around space stations and the surface of planets, etc. We can all meet up in some seedy space bar or wretched hive of scum and villainy and talk BRP. Oh, and there are already several Elite novels out and all are pretty good. I just finished "Docking is Difficult". Those that played previous versions of Elite can truly appreciate the title. Its pretty funny actually, kind of a Hitchhikers vibe. http://www.amazon.com.au/Elite-Docking-Difficult-Dangerous-ebook/dp/B00JDJIXAS Rod
  20. Hey fellow BRPers. Based on comments in another thread, there are a few gamers that frequent this forum that play Elite Dangerous, or will be very soon. As I do not want to hijack that thread, I decided to start this one. I'm currently puttering around the galaxy in a hauler. I'm sure there is a vast amount of galaxy between us, but maybe we can link up sometime. Now, I'll be honest, I don't have a lot of time to play due to RQ: Classic Fantasy, but we can at least add each other to contacts/friends or whatever its called and see what happens. Rod - CMDR: Homer Noodleman PS - If any of you were flying a Viper and took out my eagle while I was bounty hunting during Beta 2. We cant be friends.
  21. Elite Dangerous already has a Role Playing Game in the works. I'll be picking it up when its available, I love the PC game. Been playing it since the early beta. Rod
  22. My first experience with role playing games was back in 1978 (yes I'm that old) when my English teacher started an after-school D&D group. He did use it as a teaching tool to some degree and even though he was an English teacher, it was through his campaign that I first grasped percentages, improved my basic math skill/speed, etc. Plus, he graded us on our character background. Not officially, but it really made use put some thought into it. I didn't stick with D&D however as when I decided I wanted to run my own campaign, I stopped by the hobby store and that 13 year old Star Wars fan saw Traveller. I grabbed up all the Little Black Books my allowance would allow for the next few months and ran a two year campaign. But I cant help but to think back at my first experience with RPGs all those years ago and how things would be different if my best friend didn't convince me to sign up for the after school game. Rod
  23. Hey Verderer, while not related to Silent Bob's system, I just posted something to this effect last night on the Design Mechanism's forum. "For my AD&D games that I used to run, it wasn't about making magic items, it was about the thrill of discovering them. So as far as bringing that philosophy to RQ: CF, I wanted a background reason for why they are not typically being made any more. What I came up with is that magic waxes and wanes, and about 1000 years ago the mana levels of the world were at their peak. Magic points could be drawn from the surroundings and used to enchant items pretty easily. Now, 1000 years later, the world mana has waned to its lowest point, with only a few locations of magical or spiritual significance still possessing mana like puddles slowly evaporating after a storm. This, along with the few points a living creature can generate on their own, means that the time for the creation of magic items "of significance" has long passed. And the best magic items are still waiting in some forgotten tomb, or sealed in the ruins of some lost civilization somewhere." So while it doesn't really tackle the prospect of making magic items, it does explain why they are so numerous, yet not really being made anymore. Rod
