  1. I have been running superworld along time, LOL. Yes, I have run it, it works and I feel better than any other level based system, and easier than the hero systems but with it's good points. The antihero style character is fun at first till they are finally pushed against the wall alone. If a one shot or small adventure it was never a problem but for longer games showing the PC is vunerable to many "dangers" has held most thinking players at bay. I have kidnapped PCs, stripped powers, altered them, held families, transported them to dimensions and other worlds, so your ideas, if the players care should hold them at bay. But the imaginations of players will always outrace you, so have backup ideas ready.
  2. I always wanted to build a BRP bestiary, with some of the "lost" creatures from the gateway supplement, and the possey translation, could be interesting. There a few years ago, a couple older RQ sites with some interesting critters, but they seem to have disappeared. One of the big complaints of my wonderful dnd zombies is that there aren't enuff critters, LOL . Of course they have learned when to run and many are catching the Basic bug.
  3. pixie actually STR2d4 con 3d6 siz 1d6 int 3d6 pow 2d6+6 dex 4d6 app3d6 move 3/10 flying sling 30% 1d8 they are naturally invisible
  4. In our Nephilim Game we used the elements alot. Had pools of "fire" air etc, and ley lines etc. The elemental "pow" is the max a being can channel at the time, they can wait some time to hold onto the enrgy to boost a "spell", but just throwing energy around they could only go as high as what was in the stream etc. We also used a pseudoastrological system based on days, months and times etc. where the moon was as compare to the sun etc. On jorune with the moons etc the idea is that at certain times ceratin dyshas would be/could be more powerful etc as well as using what is in the stream. Looks complicated on paper but worked well for us. Might help
  5. Sorry, I created a psi system based on Space Opera and few other sources, it isnt finished yet completely but it is in the files here. The Psi system is based on "levels".
  6. Ah time to get out the Goetia, hmm, LOL. Ok, Im hooked, tax time cant come too fast!!!
  7. Ah, kids these days, LOL. My partner picked up the big book and created two characters while I was at work, with n o help, and only watching her other friends play dnd. The system is easy and complexity only comes from what you hang on it. After the orginal CoC game I went the other way to complexity and ran Other Suns for a good long time. Both BRP based, both fun.
  8. Will it be sold via Chaosium? My wife who has caught the gaming bug is been sneakily buying me games, LOL! She loves the setting but doesnt want to go " hether and yone" to pick up systems.
  9. Wifey surprised me with this Book, tree version. Definately Aftermath and Morrow Project ish, well done. I was thinking more Gamma World, but this is nice.
  10. um I started porting the PSI stuff from Space opera, have you taken a look?
  11. I like Nephilim, some people dont, too esoteric but since I am weird, lol.We ported Nephilim into a modern CoC game. Since I dont play mythos heavy it worked, we changed things a wee bit. We still had the elements, but the PCs were actually Nephilim that awoke in their human incarnations and had to manage the world. Had to accept some changes, a couple PCs actually began the "change" to evolve physically into their Nephilim as the rules suggest. However, we also changed words and concepts into more modern occultish ideas etc, and this was prompted by the players, not me. If you dont know the system well, might be a chore, really. Also, the background world wasnt the same as the game it altered quite a bit. More generic, less angst.
  12. Dont go heavy on the mythos, my kids played elfquest On their own at 8 and 10, a girl and boy. They loved it, had to wrestle RQ from them a couple times. LOL The mythos can cause problems use BRP rules or go light, use monsters they know already to give them a feel. Maturity is sometimes a must for the heavy games. My Son created Vampire Hunter D off Superworld, was actually quite good!
  13. Great book actually, did run a CoC style campaign off it back in the day.
  14. I sent this fello an message a long time ago, about his stuff. Never heard fromk him, But I have been offline for about a year. I have my notes somewhere. We did play around with . It needed somework, could be interesting, iirc.
  15. Sorry been away, real life. Since I have been gaming ths game a long while and with various players. I have to say it does work. Alot of my players were interested with the example of the conversions, many felt there was some cherry picking.. For our group, as in RQ, every attack has a parry dodge etc. Many of the players have healing , and lotsa of extra hit points. So this is what my players say. They like the fact they can parry etc, unlike the wargame style games like dnd and hero system where every thing is calculated in. Many like the game as it has a more free style. But since so many seem to have such a... is limited a right way to express it, I guess trying to defend or explain the system is a waste of time. It could be lethal as a game and we have dickered around using the hero system of hits, but usually converted back. Beinga gaming trollop and having gamed most of the systems till recently, (last I played was M&M, started with Champions and V&V). I still think this system is comparable to any other. It has it quirks and flaws, but any issue is whata GM is about . Peace out
  16. Yes, if it is part of the game world. Let me illustrate from a near similiar situation, in our BRP/SW game. Flitter mouse was up against the evil brick conar. Now flittermouse has MA, and Conar doesnt, also FM is a wee bit quicker. He gets the drop oon Conar, grapples and rolls under his MA for grapple. He now can inflict more damage, if he wants, and few other things besides to the evil villian than a regular character. He holds on to when Conar can respond. His MA allows more "resistance" (not quotes) to Conar break the grapple. Atleast in our world. For instance Conar tries to break the hold, and FM is not putting the screws yet to Conar. He may break the regular grapple BUT, he has to also break against the MA. Again in our world.
  17. Well done! But BRp does have similiar issues that Champs does. But wait no M&M or V&V, LOL. In Marvel, havent seen 4c Yet, you are correct, but it is a totally different system. And the flavor is different. If rl quits kicking my rear, I will do this for d6 and V&V. even Gurps. And we can do a real comparison, lol. The thing is though in BRP and Champs YOU can evolve the character, in Marvel and V&V, and GH iirc the rolls lock you in and out to a solid block, so to speak.
  18. "Levels " Are the thing .But that is true with all superhero games, Run Thor Level with Spidey in MSH, things can get messy. The thing is that the characters have to be within similiar levels. In Champions a 250-300 point Character going against Doc Destroyer and his gang well, gets ugly. We have had some really powerful characters in Superworld and they did fine. But that is how it is in groups , each characters has strengths and weaknesses. In M&M Hulk is Str 40ish iirc, a Minuteman , sorry Sentinel, lol is 40. Most characters are in the normal human range. Again I think some people get a certain system in their mind feels comfortable, I was like that with Hero for a long while, yet evolved back to BRP. Mostly because I had the game, SW, and was tired of Constantly playing catch up with the new editions. BRP is a constant system, have had some evolution, but doesnt get too bogged down. Don't get me wrong being a gaming trollop I go where the players are, or need me and have run most superhero systems some I really can't stand, like V&V (except for the random powers, ) M&M, Champs 1-5, etc. I though still feel BRP can stand up against any system and come out well. it is adaptable, without getting too unbalanced. Ok, off my soapbox, next?
  19. LOL, like wise our Mythos is well, hidden. The group had their hands full with Vampires, werewolves etc. In fact in Nighhawk, monster players were allowed
  20. This where GMing comes into play. Remember BRP is not DnD where a rule is written. And since timing is also, was also , different. Things happen faster in combat, lol. And as Icebrand states depending on situation, a "low level" grappler can deal a significant blow to a better trained fighter. Remember a "martial artist" is more effective usually, and the skill is bought, in my campaigns separately. So a wresteler that takes grapple as an art, can grapple normally, unless his roll is under hos MA skill, just an idea.
  21. I think I understand, but as with Champions you can do anything with Superworld BRP, as for M&M, I never liked the system, the only thing about M&M and Champions is the amount of material produced, funny thing I prefer WEGd6 way over Champions and M&M for Superplay. I of course did start with Champions and even V&V before Superworld, I just like the system better.
  22. I am curious on how many, if anyone, has ever created other groups to battle the Mythos. Way back before Modern setting came out we running a campaign that had the group part of a clandestine organization. It was called project Nighthawk, and we did run loose, less Cthulhu, more Nightlife. We ran the group from 82-83 to 89. And we had a steady group of core members. Anyone else, or is this the wrong board for this discussion?
