  1. Since you'are likely to get some people interested in playing, I'd give the classic "how to begin" advice -- start small, and grow the players' experience incrementally as their characters experience it (or as they are about to experience it -- you don't want them to find out for the first time what Trolls are like, when they are in a pitch-black cave with a bunch of Uz...). Everyone from one clan is classic (or tribe for Praxians, House for Esrolians, etc). I also like "one cult," with cultic ties substituting for tribal/family ones. Best of luck!
  2. , or a known but profoundly problematic lover.
  3. In these situations I call out, "please, everybody -- agree on ONE key to sing in! I'll cover all the others, and hopefully y'all will drown me out!' (edit: Sorry, Bill. I know how much music means to you; I am strictly an appreciator. I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if the bucket were hermetically sealed and duct-taped to my hand)

    Fioracitta

Am I utterly mistaken... or would Fioracitta + Mythic Constantinople make a natural (and awesome) pairing???
  5. isn't that mudclad? (n.b. Scwarzenegger's "Mud Scene" in Predator'87)
  6. o ghods, what have I done?!
  7. Les pathetiques -- A multi-racial adventuring party consisting of Duck, Newtling, & Trollkin.
  8. ... Tingleverse / Glorantha crossover FTWTF ??!?
  9. You're in a metal box. It's "night" whenever you turn off the light. If you have a spaceship that you can board on Earth at the beginning of the night, and get to Venus making landing about 8 hours later... well, just land near the sunrise. Boom, night flight to Venus.
  10. 😱 😱 😱 😳 ... and you... and you... want me to JOIN your insane survival lottery???!?
  11. I have NO problems going through your damnded airlock, thankyouverymuch. <supercilious sniff> But I hope I don't have to climb any ladders... my knees aren't what they used to be... But... conquer the galaxy? I hope that doesn't mean I'll have to miss the late-morning nap, because I'm not sleeping well these days. Otherwise, count me in!
  12. Sir... God's Peed! <cos sometimes, the snarky gotta snark> That's usually taken to be a Bad Thing. Consent is important for folks who operate in that space, and rubbing other folks' noses in it IS involving them; and it's doing so without their consent. I'm pretty live-and-let-live about consenting adults and whatever their kinks are and are not, but public display always borders on problematic (usually unethical, and often illegal), and easily slips over those lines. Even with my live-and-let-live attitude, I'm not happy when others do this stuff in front of me, either.
  13. Mythras, like most of the rest of BRP's "extended family" of games, is highly intercompatible. If I wanted the RQG runes imported into a Mythras-engine'ed game, it'd be trivially-easy to do so. If I wanted Mythras "Combat Effects" to imported into RQG to replace the "critical hit" system, it'd be trivially-easy to do that, too. Thus I say unto thee: go forth, and game! And if perchance thou havest fun... then thou art Doing It Right. (also, it sounds like BOTH Chaosium and TDM sell their core rulebooks; really, I don't see any losers here)
  14. Isn't this illo of a reed boat? And as a HW product... wouldn't this have been Greg's initiative & editorial control? Or do I misunderstand that? I quite LIKE the use of "impractical" and/or "obsolete" equipment for magical/mythological reasons! I see no reason at all to prefer "wood from the Yolp mountains" over the Moon-Reeds of ILH era... Why was this change instigated, does anyone know? And as noted, wouldn't the image (above) have been one Greg solicited/reviewed/approved? I don't think we need to prefer he have "written" this in text, when the illustration clearly shows his intent just as well... But for textual confirmation, is there any way to contact the artist (or art director) in question, find out if they have any notes/etc from the project?
  15. And, as is so common with RQ -- numbers will count. Your badass Sword of Humakt may be able to face down some POW=35 terror from the Spirit World... and even win... (!) But are you including the 4 POW=25 attendant spirits... or the TWENTY "ordinary-follower" spirits, 5 each with POW=9, POW=11, POW=13, POW=15 ? All of them surrounding the Sword (and the rest of the party) casting from overhead or otherwise out of range, attacking enmasse, etc... Or does that look closer to a TPK?
  16. I expect it was indeed "just a stumbling block or two;" or maybe a glitch in another line/product taking more time, so they couldn't put in the time they had scheduled for the JC-rollout. I have faith it'll happen, and I expect it sooner rather than later.
  17. I'd agree with SDLeary, mostly "demons" are below the "godly" power-levels. But that appears to be strictly a matter of how you define your own campaign / world, honestly "Classic" demon schticks (again, depending on your world) run to: Needing to be summoned to act within the world Getting sacrifices (preferably humans) instead of mere "worship" Possessing worshipers Possessing victims/targets Power bargains (give-X ==> get-Y) I'd look closely at D&D's conceptual model here: they have gods with all kinds of alignment, and Clerics who interact with their gods according to the same game mechanics. Is that the conceptual model you want to use? Is "demon" the ubiquitous term you want for the "evil gods," or is "demon" more an alignment-specified term for servants of the "evil gods," more akin to "angel' or "deva?" Do you even want to go with the trope of the "gods" just being "extreme humanity:" the "good-aligned" gods shining with holy purity, the "evil-aligned" ones being sociopaths with tons of power and evil SFX ? It's a matter of definition, really. How do YOU want to define these terms / these entities... in your world?
  18. ... but really, given the ubiquity of (at least low-level) anti-Lunar sentiment, is there ANYWHERE in Sartar that a few exiles couldn't be from, in 1615?
  19. It's more ... what you'd call guidelines than an actual deadline. Welcome aboard Chaosium, Mr's & Ms's Turners ... (seriously, youdathunk they'd have generalized the lesson whereby they no longer announce (over-optimistic) date far ahead of a product ... But I suppose they have discovered more "moving pieces" than expected, with Glorantha/JC more complex than Mythos/MR; I know they've publicly stated that Mythos publications are more straightforward for them to produce than Gloranthan ones)
  20. I seem to have been unclear. General gear/price lists are a good thing, if your campaign is going to follow the model of bringing loot back from adventures to buy more/better adventuring gear. I am suggesting that Alchemy is different from other "gear." That just by having "list prices," it sets an expectation of mundane market-driven availability; whereas this stuff should IMHO mostly be quested-for, not available at any market rate. Plot points, story elements, McGuffins, what-have-you. Sure, you may end up "buying" the thing in some obscure market, from a bespectacled eccentric vendor; and the price may end up being trivial (or not) ... but finding that market, that vendor; learning how to make the approach so s/he will get the not-on-display item from the back room... THAT's the "cost." Also stories. If mundane availability -- for cash, for sale -- is a desired feature, I will suggest that each GM should decide how available they want each alchemical formula for their game, and set it for their table (and the wealth available to the characters)... again, without regard to any "price list" set by the author. Either way, I suggest that including an a priori "price list" is more of a problem than not (for alchemy specifically, that is).
  21. If you accelerate your reaction mass to 0.999999c, the mass is about 1000fold greater. It makes your tankfull of reaction-mass (effectvely) much bigger. It just takes a LOT of energy... and some handwavium applied to the actual engineering technologies! (n.b. if you can build a big-ish one of these into an engine & little ones into guns, in a little 1-or-2-person ship, you have a "starfighter" type ship.)
  22. Excellent! In the end, there will never be any guarantees. Even if another product seems nearly-identical and comes to eat your lunch... yours may be the better, and eat their lunch instead. Or both may coexist... frankly, to the overall health of the line!
  23. Therein, as you say, lies the problem. Who gets to decide what's "modern politics" etc? The mods, I guess? Suppose someone does some stuff with... hmm, with obvious SpaceNazi's in it... is that political? I mean, gamers have had SpaceNazi's since forever! So it's all good. But what if someone else sees it as obvious SpaceAltRight? That's getting... well, pretty f'ing political, right there! Who catches mod ire? The one who posted obvious SpaceNazi's or the one who pointed out the SpaceAltRight? Both? Or ... ? Not to mention when the creation gets more complex, with elements of fascism, but other elements too! In the end, this may be the very best approach. The more things get codified and pinned down, the more the rules-lawyer types (on all sides of an issue) will find ways to slip through the loopholes. People are pretty darned good at spotting the BS and know-it-when-they-see-it. Rigid codified rules not so much... But as I said above: ultimately, this is Triff's house. So his rules.
  24. Ultimately, I go back to this is Triff's house. Even Chaosium are guests here. So while I may agree with this (and I do): I see that as Triff's call. Maybe he wants our input, maybe he doesn't. If he does, I expect he'll ... I dunno... put up polls or something? ... to get a sense of how many folks want what sorts of policies.
  25. Your Unobtanium needs to be radioactive; that is to say you need incredibly-much incredibly-intense energy. Accelerate your reaction mass to near-c velocities -- even small amounts of it -- and let God and Einstein give you more reaction-mass. Yes, now your engine is a near-c WMD... <shrugs> wotcha gonna do? Also a Clarketech device ... <shrugs> wotcha gonna do? At least relativistic mass-increase agrees with known physics.
