  1. I'm using Roll20 for a D&D game. I think it works fine. And it's free. I only use it rarely, but for the basics I have no complaints. A/V working, die-rolling, all my docs up. Someone even made a charsheet that I'm trying. Managed to get all free tokens and maps. Really it's just a vtt, and does all I need.
  2. Pseudoqoute: "Too many options and too generic can make it a bit harder..." Possibly. I'd use an equipment list, not a builder. Might look at a build system to get a feel for my handwavium pull stats from air methodology. Too many options will make my eyes glaze over, but that's just me. I might suggest separate but compatible instructions...
  3. I ran a quick scenario for my wife and daughter, based on The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. I started reading the novel, but it was taking too long. I remember reading plot summaries online, and I made it into a short scenario we played in one session. I used a map of the Clue(do) mansion, but you could use anything. This was all as a result of some helpful online suggestions. If you still need something, I can see if I still have it somewhere on my hard drive.
  4. Yeah, I'm with Clarence on that one. Equipment should be purchased with credits. I don't really 'get' the 'points' thing. Now, you could always have some sort of trade-off in chargen to allow for a special character, such as one with cyber-enhancements. But generally speaking, I would create an equipment list, and improvise off that. No different from a fantasy or horror game.
  5. My thoughts, for what they're worth. The definition of SF varies, over time and by source. Personally, as a gm and writer, I hand-wave my SF. I don't use generators or construction rules. I see no need for them in a space BRP book, but they don't offend me since I know many people like them. Yes, more equipment. No, no setting. At this point, that's pretty much wasted space. SF fans already have a type of setting they like, and they know it better than anyone else does.
  6. Saved me the trouble of looking. My book is on the shelf four feet away...
  7. Well, looks like my copy is missing, too! Maybe some kind soul could help us both...
  8. If you still need help, I'm willing. Although I've never annotated a pdf, I am a former teacher.
  9. Funny thing is, I'm currently working at a company called World of Wonder. I usually mess up and refer to it as Worlds of Wonder though. :-)
  10. LOL, I know what you're saying. Anton LaVey at the table!
  11. So, we must be very strict and compartmentalized in our discussions on the big 'all things BRP' board? I understand that publishers might want a board restricted to their products, since more discussion can equal more sales. But this is a fan board, not a house organ. I understand that some fans who are only interested in one system might have to *skip over* some threads they're not interested. Much like I skip over threads that don't interest me. I read the Subject line. Some topics might be about, say, looking at other published magic systems that might fit in well with their RQ6 game. Where does that go? Sat I'd like to discuss differences between various aspects of RQ2, RQ3 and RQ6. Nominally, let's say my base game will be RQ6. We have a board called Runequest. Am I going to be chided for that? What if I just want to discuss Runequest in general, can I do so in the Runequest category? Or must I have a certain percentage of my words specific to RQ6? This is a generic, fan site for the entire BRP/d100 family. I would love for publishers and designers to post here. But they have their own house boards, too.
  12. Hmm. 'OGL Cybernet,' mebbe.
  13. Saw there's Mongoose OGL cyberpunk pdf on sale for $2.00 on Drivethru for a short time only.
  14. Hmm, interesting link. Thanks Nick. I'm not sure that it will do, but whenever it comes out I'll check the reviews. If it contains everything I want to play straight cyberpunk, and it's simply a matter of ignoring mutants, aliens and robots, then I'd get it. OTOH if I have to rewrite it I might as well pass it by.
  15. Other than the BRP-derived games I play (which are Chaosium RQ 2nd, old Stormbringer, old CoC, Celestial Empire, along with Age of Shadow and Classic Fantasy which I own but have yet to use)? I play 1st ed AD&D, Classic Traveller, old Gamma World and Metamorphosis Alpha, FASA Star Trek, WEG Star Wars, and Fading Suns 2nd ed. I also have Justice Inc and Crimson Skies, 1st ed Warhammer Fantasy and FFG Rogue Trader, all hoping to get into someday. Plus quite a few games I own but never play, like Shadowrun, Dune, T&T, Jags Wonderland. Honestly I can't really be bothered learning new systems, they usually seem overly-complicated to me and not worth my time. Nowadays I usually hack the systems into something familiar. For example, I'm running a game set in Tekumel, Empire of the Petal Throne, which I've hacked into 1st ed AD&D. It started out as an OD&D variant, and it wasn't hard to carry its evolution along to 1st ed AD&D.
  16. I have not, but I hope to. I like those old movies, and I think such a game would go over well with my daughter and wife. OTOH I could be wrong. I showed them "The Gorilla." My wife got up and left the room partway through. After the show my daughter (12 yrs old) said it was a pretty crazy movie (not in a good way), and she didn't really understand what was going on. Will shoot for "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein" next. I'm still considering Scooby Doo Cthulhu, but haven't found a decent episode to show them yet.
  17. Better to publish generic, license-less pdfs on your own, then rake in the big bucks. Mwahaha.
  18. Thanks. So there's nothing actually written for BRP, even after all this time. And it sounds like you're recommending 2nd ed Cyberpunk 2020. I appreciate your input.
  19. Thanks for the feedback. For me, the "flavor of the setting" is the easiest part. It's just GMing style. So you create characters in Cyberpunk, then transfer them over? I guess I'm looking for a BRP template that contains the bits I'd need for netrunning and cyber gear. I suppose the combat is already in the BGB. Possibly some futuristic non-cyber gear as well?
  20. I read Gibson and Stephenson and Williams cyberpunk back in the day, and enjoyed it. So I played a little Cyberpunk by R. Talsorian back when it first came out. Didn't much care for the rules system. I played a little Shadowrun back when it first came out. Didn't much care for the rules system. Didn't care for adding magic and elves and orcs to cyberpunk. Do we not have any BRP game, supplement or monograph for a straight cyberpunk game? I am not a gearhead, but I do want rules that will support simple combat, simple netrunning, and cyber gear. I don't need to codify dehumanization. And yes, I just saw the Cyberthulhu work someone did. Looking for other takes. Thanks!
  21. I think it was years of school somewhere I read, EDU 12 would mean high school graduate. But I think you have to take it with a grain of salt. You could rationalize it and say it's whatever education you've absorbed, so you could have an EDU 5 and still be a high school grad, if that's what you wanted. Avg edu for the culture should be the usual 9-12. On the other hand, I know I've been frustrated in Call of Cthulhu where I wanted to play a PhD, but had a low EDU score. You just have to go with it.
  22. I just make the player match the type and number of drinks their character has. Now that's a simulation game!
  23. Agree. Nowadays I usually choose rather than roll for everything. Whatever I think will make the best game.
