Welcome. Roll20 is a great site to game on. I've used it as both a player and a GM. I don't have a lot of free time for gaming, so I don't know if I can join you, but I'm curious as to which version of RQ you're interested in.

I think you have to fake it, that's what I'd do. Just make up your own stats.

Hi Gianni, I don't game with (or read on, or even own) a tablet or e-reader. I installed Sumatra on my laptop, but it won't print your file (the manual says to hit ctrl-p to print, although I'd like a little more access to settings than just that). I'd like to read and game with your Swenstown. Is there any way you'd be willing to post something that could be printed? Thanks.

This is the only ed of RQ I play. My teenage daughter wants to play a newtling, duck or anthropoid platypus next. Her idea, but if there are sentient waterfowl, then I thought "why not?" So once our group winds down our current Tekumel game, I envision a 'Wind in the Willows' set on the banks of the River of Cradles. With jack o'bears guarding the trolls' cabbage patch? We'll have to see...

The thing that gets me is that I liked this forum, that was very unofficial and covered a lot of things I like, that Chaosium was no longer a part of. Once we went from " We're getting the band back together " to "We've given the company to someone else," things went crazy, here and elsewhere. This site lost a lot of its open friendliness, and saw some rather unpleasant posts by "fanbois." You'll forgive me (or not) if I am less than pleased by recent developments. There's no reason for anyone to care, but I expect I'm not the only one who spends a great deal less time here. If you want a suggestion, then make ONE forum called "Official Central Chaosium Forum" here, with whatever subforums you like. But from the point where I saw Loz ordering posters to refrain from posting about versions of Runequest that were not his own in the Runequest forum, I have little love for publishers on BRP Central.

Really? This is a question? ;-) A better question might be, "Why should I make my book, one in a long line of similar books, be organized differently from everything else I own?" If I were running a game of BRP Starships, my ships would already be designed, my locations detailed, my plot and characters all written up. So exactly what benefits do I, the GM, get from this one book out of my collection being organized, and yes I'll say it, backwards? At the very least I will usually open to the wrong part, whatever I'm looking for. Please yourself, but I can't think of anything else that "deserves" to be placed first instead.

I also vote for a complete game. I prefer BGB/monograph-style rules to RQ6. Generally I prefer fewer fiddly rules at my table. As you say, licensing options might be a bit grey at the moment. But as a complete book with its own variant rules, I'd imagine you could ally yourself with whatever core or family works out best contractually.

Is OGL Cybernet more d20 or more Legend/BRP?

$120 is well out of my price range. I don't like PDFs. If I'm going to buy a core rulebook, I want it HC and complete, with a bestiary. I don't need a setting or adventures in my core book. Also, Id much prefer fewer illos, skip the gold leaf and fancy binding; keep the price down, just make it sturdy. I like boxed supplements, and I like adventures. But when it comes to settings I'm extremely picky. It takes an awful lot to convince me to buy.

Sounds like a good Traveller scenario, too!

Sir, I don't appreciate a conversation degenerating into slinging terms such as "incredibly whiney." I'm right here, and I don't consider that to be well-mannered in the least. If you'd like to be civil, I might consider a discussion with you. Possibly. Although I think what I wrote was clear.

So Chaosium now consists of RQ6/HQ Glorantha, and CoC 7th ed. I've been mulling over my feelings, and I've come to a conclusion. I don't play RQ6. I prefer less crunchy games, and I'm delighted to continue playing RQ2, which I've been doing since at least 1980. I don't play HQ. With great trepidation, wanting to support Gloranthan gaming, I bought the deluxe HW set when it first came out, and was hugely disappointed. I have a big chip on my shoulder over Robin Laws as a result. Probably misdirected, I guess it should be against Greg, but there's enough of a chip to share. I've been playing Call of Cthulhu since it came out. My father introduced me to Cthulhu in the 60's, Lovecraft was one of his favorite authors. But I won't be using the 7th edition, I'm incredibly opposed to its changes. Unpleasant feelings now snowballing regarding the Chaosium games I've loved. I've loved the Stormbringer rpg since it was first published, and was a fan of the Elric novels since the early 70's; but this rpg is no longer a Chaosium product line. I bought the Thieves World products as they came out, but they're no longer a Chaosium product line. I have Worlds of Wonder, and the BGB, and monographs, all are now cut loose. What is there left about Chaosium that I might like? Oh, they just put Moon Design in charge. Moon Design, whose business model seems to consist of presenting a Glorantha that is very much at odds with the version originally presented to us way back when I became a fan. This is really a significant negative for me. So, to summarize. I've been a fan and customer since the early, early days. My Cthulhu is gone, my Runequest is gone, and now the entire BRP collection of “other” games has been packed away. I guess we're done, Chaosium. You no longer have anything to offer me. It's over, and it's a damned shame. But since I decided to stop buying Dungeons and Dragons products altogether in 1989, I suppose I'll survive this too.

I remain unenthused.

Sunwolfe, I've been dreaming of a BRP Burroughs conversion for years! I, too, tend to prefer rules on the more streamlined side. I don't know about losing hitpoints altogether, though! In any case, I'd appreciate hearing of your progress and perhaps seeing the fruits of your labor someday. I've been running games set in Tekumel, the Empire of the Petal Throne, for over a year, but I ended up using 1st ed AD&D simply because it was faster for me to convert from EPT. I guess I don't really run it much like Sword and Planet, John Carter though. Mine is a bit dirtier and plagued with skullduggery and intrigue (on a petty, rather than elite, level). Not that it might not evolve, but I don't know how long it will be before I switch over to something else. So I don't have any experience getting that mood.
