  1. "shaman, you save humakti" a large band of broos must be destroyed, a job for the humakti organize the "hunt" with several fights. Enough to burn all the humakti rune pool / mp and then they discover the big boss is a shaman of malia, with some spiritual friends or just, one / all / a part of the humakti discovered some good weapons on broo's bodies. Do they remember they could be infected ? ==== "shaman, you lead humakti" a village is cursed and hires your shaman to clean the situation. Of course only the shaman know what to do, where to go, when to fight, when to let live, when and what to sing etc. Of course she need warriors help before obtain the xxx needed to help the village. Happy are the humakti to fight, less happy are the humakti players to let the shaman player decide anything
  2. My view : sanctify is a ritual, no instant, no temporal => sanctify doesn't need extension. Once the ritual is done, the area is sanctified while all other conditions (worship, sacred objects, enough members / sacrifice, no profanation, no curse, etc) are filled I m not sure that Wyter is the good answer : Here we have a clan wyter, and this wyter lives in a temple, but it is the clan wyter, not the temple wyter. then another type of wyter, the temple wyter : here you don't need to sacrifice to this kind of wyter: It is a guardian spirits sent by the god to protect its own temple. As clan member you sacrifice your pow to your clan (aka clan wyter => if the clan wyter is destroyed, the clan is destroyed so wyter = clan ) As religious person, you sacrifice your pow to your god , and your god is able to manage powerful spirits, some of them are called temple's wyters
  3. agree too, that's why I tried (and failed) to calculate the surface on the ground In another hand, surface of darkwall (10 square meter) doesn't mean surface on the ground protected by darkwall the box protected by a darkwall = 4 sides + the top (let's say the ground is a square) the height of the box should be about 2m (protecting troll / human) the surface of a side = length x height = length x 2 so the surface protected by the dark wall = (4 * 2 length) + length x length = 10 => about 1 square meter darkwall = 1 square meter (on the ground) protection cloud mist = 3.14 square meter (in is larger section) protection. But ... the larger section is on half of the "height" of the box so... Let's conclude cloud mist and darkwall are both able to protect one troll / human size and that's all 😛
  4. i don't speak about volume but surface but you are right I did a mistake I used the diameter and not the radius. So the surface is pi square meter. I apologize
  5. Thats what I think too the GM's choice of the frequency of such material is the most important : if you can find few "so powerful" jewels in dragon pass (or any big region), it is aligned with the "official" world. The jewels are relics of gods and have some exotic powers. If there are a lot of "powerful" jewels in dragon pass, your glorantha is diverging a lot, I think. That's a point to keep in mind when you see "official RQG plunder material" it is very different (less powerful) than D&D or Tolkien world's RPG treasures
  6. I think that in a Orlanthi way, if you catch children it is to negotiate or punish the f*@mmdf chief / priest / elder / ring member who did something against you. So probably more like an hostage than a slave but, after all if it is a big punishment, put the kid to work in a salt mine is a funny idea, isn't it ? it seems to me politicaly important to offer initiation to an hostage * (creating bounds, but also show that you honnor your "guest") I m not sure it is the same for slave / thrall or just cottar hostage. The slave could follow public rituel but wouldn't obtain any powerful power from the temple. Who wants to give sever spirit to an humakti slave (if it is allowed, i don't know) * what I call an hostage is not a kid captured for money, but a kid captured to stay with the raiding clan for a long time ( threat or negotiation)
  7. Personaly I would create a "trollkin aggregate" in this case : depending of troll master strategy (focus on 1 pc or split between all) create a/ few opponent with same skill / speed than trollkin but health is [health trollkin] * [nb trollkin] and dammage is [D8+ nb trollkins]. Each time dammage against the opponent take [health trollkin] reduce the opponent's dammage until 50% of loss then fleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. Ah thanks, I see this territory is "unknown" (for the moment) so two main possibilities (and a lot of variations) Aeolian are first malkioni then orlanthi : zzaburi monopolize all sacred activities (priesthood, sorcery), other work or lead temporaly (but both fight), but they follow storm and earth pantheons --> variation : runelord, god talker, ...avaible for no zzaburi / and - or / ... Aeolian are first orlanthi then malkioni : everybody can become priest/runelord (no cast restriction for the gods, but of course social pressure and politic as any orlanthi culture) but the zzaburi "bloodlines" are authorized to use sorcery and can join any cult as any position --> variations : priesthood restriction for zzaburi / and - or / possibility to use sorcery even in cult prohibiting sorcery / and - or / zzaburi cannot "work" or "fight" or "lead" / and - or / zzaburi cannot join any cult / and - or / zzaburi can join only few cults (LM for example)... am I right ?
  9. Hello what I don't understand there there are priests both in Orlanthi and Aeolian. Orlanthi priests can summon (? other verb ) a wyter Why Aeolian priests couldn't ? Why do they need sorcerers in fact, if we have orlanth/ernalda/blablabla priests on Aeolian community, that means socerer do something else / more. They shouldn't replace priest action, maybe improve them ? It's really not clear for me
  10. I follow the rules with, maybe this option : allied spirit inhabit animals or sacred cult object human spirit inhabit human body when a human body is killed, his spirit goes to the death path and if succeed joins his/her god/dess when an allied spirit's body is killed / destroy, it joins its god/dess (it is already judged) But as a human spirit can stay (for very good, or very bad reason) near the body (ghost, etc..) so does an allied spirit. From my perspective only for a very very good / bad reason (so the GM decides). Example : to burn all its energy to save the human (but the spirit is destroyed after that) or because its corrputed /captured by an ennemy, etc.. In all cases, not just a spell to come back : human body can be resurrected only before the death judgement (1 week) but it is not possible for the already judged spirit
  11. From my view, it could be good or bad depending of the table I consider the rq(x) rules as good for the balance simplicity (it is not super but good for me) and simulation (it is not super but good for me) Of course, if your table accept less simplicity for more simulation it is a good idea to put more sub-rules. Another possibility is if your table accept "computer dice" and not "hand dice" then you can create a complex model / algorithm and develop it (of course you need computer skill at say 50% and algorithm lore at 60%) In this case you have great simplicity : push submit button (and whit not choose wich button depending the situation), and great simulation (at least the level you want) long ago, I tried (it was a fumble) to read rolemaster rules, it gives a lot of results (very very too too too much much much much results for me with "hand dice") It may be more reallistic than other (or not, complexity doesn't equal simulation)
  12. working deeper and deeper I got two reasons for why was he chosen ? - political reason : father did something wrong, or didn't please the local priest or declared he would support any rebelion - bad luck reason : he is left handed, what a curse for the community ! (and why not an opportunity in the future to manage some ewf heritage) But then, let's see how to become polaris initiate. Should he follow some officer academy (as a polaris duty) or could he be teached by his retired "host" ? As an officer student, does that mean he has to be in the lunar army for a long period ? In that case how many years are needed to not be considered as a deserter ? And as officer what kind of weapons should he use ? the same than his unity because in lunar army officers are one among the unity (for example in the phallanx) some dedicated authority weapon because in lunar army officers are different than the unity (for example next / behind the phallanx) Of course there is also the mixed unity (i don't remember the word, sorry, I m so old now, my last hope is to read gagog before dying 😛) but it seems to me more a Yanafal Tarnils organization than a Polaris one
  13. maybe waiting for battle rules, I hope some battlefield spell would be described in other case (homerule) I would consider : - there are specialized spells known by people / cults dedicated to the purpose (wachaza, dormal ? , ..). - the dammage bonus must be enough (not +1 but +1d6 or +3 +6...) considering the "standard" dammage - the cost should be proportional to the dammage bonus (not 1 or 2 magic points)
  14. Restez à la maison Hello all I am thinking about a campaign I will start in few months.. after the so expected gagog (no pressure, do the best job you can, or I will become berserk) (be free to comment if a part of my hypothesis is not canonical) We are creating a background for one character based on a sartarite child from a noble family "given" as hostage to the lunar empire after the lunar victory. The boy is a "guest" of a little noble dara hapan family in lunar homeland (where ?). He is well educated : the empire goal is to prepare him to go back in sartar as a future lunar compliant clan leader As he is well connected with fire rune, the dara hapan family was choosen according to the cult he may join, to teach him the right values and skills A good candidate in my mind is Polaris : noble -> good for the final expected role in sartar officer / military so obedient to the hierarchy -> good for the final expected relationship with the empire (of course lunar empire wants him as a puppet) rigsdal -> easier than Seven Mother to be accepted by orlanthi sartarite (is it right ? at least lunars bet on it) The game plan is of course the lunar plan will not be followed (well in fact I don't know what is the true plan, who the character will betray ? the home land ? the lunar ? both ?) and of course a lot of relations would see him as a traitor in all cases but I would like to know more about Polaris followers values Is there a lot of difference with Yelmalio ? What are the relationship with others cults (Yelm, Yelmalio, Seven mother, Chaos , Orlanth, ...) and other monsters (duck, troll, elf, woman, hunshen) ? then Rigsdal. What I understand is Rigsdal is Polaris after some event. Good ! we have an event, the character leaves solar empire to sartar storm kingdom. But do the two cults accept themselves as the same cult ? Is it different of Yelmalio / Elmal relationship ? I imagine that probably a "little" heroquest would be enough to be accepted as a rigsdal initiate renacting the polaris change ? And what is the relationship between Orlanth and Rigsdal ? a neighbour autonomous or another loyal servent (like Elmal) ? thanks for your light !
  15. that is the rules I bought new rules may vary but for the moment the "double max" rule is just an answer in the forum and may be more explained / worked (and could be more consistent) Chaosium team makes a great job to answer so many questions, sometimes complex, sometimes so obvious. I m not sure the "double max" is exactly what they mean, but a quick answer to manage the flow of rules questions
  16. don't use a crush weapon, fool ! (the character, not the player)
  17. my view crushing special : (weapon normal damage + bonus normal damage) + bonus normal damage (the special) crushing crit : (weapon full damage + bonus normal damage) + bonus max damage (the special)
  18. There is always another way so they can. they can look for a shaman or a priest, promise some commitments (new adventure hooks) Or they can discover a ruin where a big spirit, ghost, driad, ... who agree to help them if....
  19. thanks for the detail My first feeling was it is sad that the heroes were not able to give "good / peacefull" magic for the wyter. But what can we expect from fighters ?! If I were member of the community (but I have a kind of aldryami pollen allergy so it would be unlivable) I would try to give the wyter two protection powers : "Unity Battle Memory" a kind of moral spell : if people from different races fight together against an ennemy, they obtain some bonus. "True Peace is the only answer to war", like morale but in their main peaceful activity (not weapon skill): if people from different races work together for a nice purpose they obtain some bonus I am sure that a mix between argan argar and humakt cultists could obtain these powers (maybe if zorak zorani and aldryami accept to sacrifice something of their racial war powers) And maybe a difficulty : the wyter can use the powers you describe only when people from different races work together
  20. Hello It could be helpful to describe what is the purpose of the community ? from what it was built, why was it created , what is its daily activty, relationship with neighbours, cults, etc.. A wyter should not be only a new weapon but more a (dis)-incarnation of the community (of course if the community is an army or troop, the wyter should be dedicated to fight, but if not ?)
  21. For a barbarian probably enough pour un être humain.... je ne sais pas but congratulations ! your ennemies would be proud to be killed by a so wise opponent
  22. in the other hand, you decided to accept a large previous experience time and skill. In my previous rules (oriflam -> I believe RQ3 compliant but not sure) 75% was the max you can reach all included if not a knowledge skill GM has all power in hands to decide if yes or no a pc can start with great powers or not (great power > standard rules, that I already feel as very generous, time of heroes is coming) That's the main GM's responsability : decide what is good / allowed for the table
