RosenMcStern
BRACE YOURSELVES, D100 IS COMINGAll things living change and evolve. Life demands growth and evolution. If you do not experience change, you are like dead (although Strange Aeons might fix even this problem). As we are not eager to wait for Strange Aeons to come, it is time for us to experience change. For the last few years, Alephtar Games has produced various supplements and accessories for role-playing games in the English language, some of which greatly appreciated by the public. However, none of these products was usable alone and all required other products (game systems) published by top quality game makers which licensed their trademarks to us. This restriction is no longer compatible with our business plans. Particularly when almost all products we offer in other languages are of the stand-alone type. Therefore, Alephtar Games wishes to step on and take full responsibility for the game system that its English language products use. As our publishing experience is mostly based on percentile systems, we will follow the road we know the best.In autumn 2015, Alephtar Games will crowdfund and launch its own d100-based roleplaying game. The provisional name for the system is RevolutionD100 – but it might change during the beta test phase. We hope that our existing customers will appreciate the new possibilities that this opens for us and for them. What will be in the game?A new way of using percentile dice, with levels of success and opposed rolls but without any calculations.A streamlined system to run everything significant as a conflict, with simple rules that resemble those of classic RPG combat.A neat and simple way to differentiate the role of stats and skill. No direct skill/stat interaction, yet both have a major role in any conflict.Basic combat that runs like any other conflict, for those games where violence is not the focus.Optional advanced combat with a deep level of detail, yet still based on the same principles. These are some features of advanced combat:Seamless transition from non-combat to combat: achievements and penalties from other adventures carry over to combat as penalties for player characters or the opposition.A fatigue system that actually works in combat (okay, you will have to see this to believe it…)A new hit location system with an adjustable level of complexity. Roll the die you like!Combat effects! An entirely (well, almost) new list!Simple implementation of combat stunts.Do-it-yourself system to determine your weapons stats. For all of you compulsive rule-tinkerers!Inserts that allow you to “fall back” to more classic rules as defined in other OGL percentile-based games. While the game will be original and self-contained, you can choose to skip most of the innovative parts and use a classic approach taken from a similar ruleset. You will still need a copy of the other game, of course.Open Game License that allows you to create and publish your own homebrew version of the game.No default setting. Most supplements produced by Alephtar Games are of the Historical Fantasy genre. We will make sure that you can use them as a starter, so that a first choice of settings is immediately available, at least for our most faithful customers.Publishing formatA free, public System Reference Document (SRD) that acts both as a reference for play and as a free gateway to the game system for those who want to learn about it before purchasing.A standard printed edition, which contains the rules found in the SRD, some extra gaming hints and the “Fallback” inserts that will help you hybridize it with other rules.A commercial PDF edition equivalent to the printed edition.Roadmap to publicationSeptember 2015: launch of the crowdfundingOctober 2015: beta test document sent to backers for public playtestAutumn 2015: public beta test among backers (can you miss it?)January 2016: consolidation of the SRDSpring 2016: delivery of the full game, in print and PDF 10 Quote Proud member of the Evil CompetitionTM

auyl
Very interesting. I'm curious at to how this turns out and getting my hands on a copy.I've thought about developing my own d100 game, but I love the Legend/Runequest and BRP system too much that I can't honestly find myself diverting from that system enough to make it worth it. 1 Quote Get all our products at our website: www.devotedpublishing.com Check Solace Games out on Facebook here! Mankcam
It sounds interesting, like it ticks a few boxes I like. I tend to back these crowd-funded projects (despite the long wait for CoC 7E), so if I have the money at the time then I will certainly look at this.I really like the setting content that Alephetar has put out in recent years, and will certainly try to support the company where I can.You can't have enough D100 rulesets I reckon! tooley1chris
I personally think you CAN have too many d100 rule sets as the fan base is spread rather thin as is...HOWEVER the OGL and Alephtars history does make me more than curious. 2 Quote Author QUASAR space opera system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 My Magic World projects page: Tooleys Underwhelming Projects

RosenMcStern
Thank you very much for your encouragement, friends. In truth, I expected more questions than standing ovations. Your trust in the quality of a game that is still in the making makes me proud and grateful. I really appreciate this. I have not forgotten that if Alephtar is an award-winning company it is for the loving support that you expressed in 2010 for Rome. Peter and the rest of the Alephtar team made their best to create a great supplement with Rome: Life and Death of the Republic, but the Ennie came because you voted it!Trifletraxor has reactivated the old forum for our work-in-progress and renamed it Revolution. I have posted the announcement there, too (Trif could you please make it sticky or give me back admin rights so that I can stick it myself?). There you can see a link to an old version of the ruleset and a couple of debates dating back to 2011. The real discussion will start immediately after the crowdfunding, when the prototype ruleset is released to backers, but comments on the older versions are welcome. I would really like Revolution to be a community-driven game.http://basicroleplaying.org/forum/18-revolution/ Quote Proud member of the Evil CompetitionTM
Guest Vile Traveller
Less established publishers might expect to be greeted with more skepticism, but I think you've more than proved Alephtar's credentials by outlasting several iterations of official D100 rules with your licensed products. I'm looking forward to this.
K Peterson
In autumn 2015, Alephtar Games will crowdfund and launch its own d100-based roleplaying game.Interesting. Is it based off your Parpuzio system that was advertised here a few years back? The provisional name for the system is RevolutionD100 – but it might change during the beta test phase.Sounds like a placeholder name. IMO, a change would be an improvement. What will be in the game? The system sound rather like Legend-lite. Is that a mischaracterization?I hope your crowdfunding goes well. Personally, I own a crapton of d100 systems, so I'm not that excited to grab yet another multi-purpose one. Once your SRD is released I'll likely browse it for mechanics I can bolt on to my current favorite d100 implementations.

RosenMcStern
Thanks Triff! Interesting. Is it based off your Parpuzio system that was advertised here a few years back?Yes, but with a lot of additions and refinements.Sounds like a placeholder name. IMO, a change would be an improvement.I wasn't sure whether Evolution D100 was a better choice. I am listening to suggestions. But sometimes placeholder names stick to a game. It happened for GURPS.The system sound rather like Legend-lite. Is that a mischaracterization? The core is way lighter than Legend, almost as simple as OpenQuest (maybe actually simpler, in fact). And the advanced combat is crunchier than Legend. So no, it is not Legend-lite.Once your SRD is released I'll likely browse it for mechanics I can bolt on to my current favorite d100 implementations. This will absolutely please me. Revolution will be specifically devised to let people "steal" ideas for hybridization. Most D100 fans own different versions of the game and mish-mash freely, it would not make any sense to not take this fact into account. However, my greedy nature forces me to include the instructions aimed at facilitating hybridization only in the for-pay version of the game. You will not find them in the SRD.(as if you actually needed the instructions ) Edited September 2, 2015 by RosenMcStern 1 Quote Proud member of the Evil CompetitionTM
Mankcam
I actually like the name Revolution D100, that could easily stick as a name for a generic core rule set. I am not overly fond of proliferation of too many BRP family systems from a commercial point of view. However if it is pretty adaptable then it won't be a bad thing, as many of us GMs tinker with these things to get what suits us. I really appreciate the settings that Alephtar Games have produced. It really is a nice little library of psuedo-historical content, and that niche has been the strength of the company in regards to BRP games. I hope the stat block for this new system is very similar to either BRP BGB or to MRQ SRD for cross compatibility with the major BRP games. From the initial posting it does sound like a system I would be quite interested in Quote " Sure it's fun, but it is also well known that a D20 roll and an AC is no match against a hefty swing of a D100% and a D20 Hit Location Table!" rsanford
Rosen,I like the name... Who knows maybe it will spark a D100 revolution :-) !Three quick questions...1. You mention hit locations... Will there be rules for aggregate hit points as well?2. Is there any plans to provide other support materials either as part of the book or as a supplement? A comprehensive bestiary would be great!3. Will the book be multi-genre like the BGB, focused on fantasy, etc...Your Rome book really dazzled me. I will be supporting you guys...
